Chill OSRS music is an oximoron. I remember loading up runescape, waiting for that red bar, going to the bathroom while I wait.. AND HAVING TO SPRINT BACK TO THE PC TO SHUT OFF THE LOGIN MUSIC AT 4AM when my parents thought I was sleeping.

I took a six year long break from 2012 to 2018. Then I saw a fair number of people were playing OSRS, and I logged into my old RS2 account. Had to start from level 3, but it just meant I could have an adventure all over again from scratch.

Either because I am curious of new content, watched a KZbin content creator and got motivated, or just saw the icon on my desktop and decided to give it a little love click. I used to hate myself for enjoying Runescape, feeling like I wasted my life on some intangible collection of pixels, but nowadays I'm glad I spent the time I did. The friends I made, the experiences I had, they were good, and not something I regret. I just wish it could have lasted longer.

@@Toby_K It's not the same. Friends have moved on, the game has become about the grind instead of the experiences. It was bound to happen, the playerbase is older and much more knowledgeable, but with it we definitely lost something along the way. Playing it now desperately trying to relive a time in my life that is long gone is futile. Even those who still play know that; they're chasing a feeling they can never experience again.

The grand exchange took a lot of that away, as well as everyone who's playing mostly playing for a trip down nostalgia lane, but of course you have the min-maxers looking for the most efficient ways to do everything thus taking the character away from the game. I will always be in love with Old School RS though.

I've visited this playlist many times. I've played OSRS a lot and made friends along the way. However, songs like Spirit always transport me back in time to 2007 when I was just a kid trying to make few hundred gp by selling my freshly smithed platebodys in Varrock with my friends. Those friends are gone now but the memories still remain. And there are those who are willing to continue making memories, new friends along the way. They just have to be found.

As a veteran from the early days of classic, I will always feel for RS similar to that of a removed childhood best friend. I miss hanging out, and often look back fondly on those memories.
