A moment of silence for those friends you met online who would spare you with sweet cool items. Who carried you through a small journey that meant the world to you. In 2006 I met a friend on RS, we stayed friends until around 08. We talked every day on RS, did so many quests, PKing, and mini games. One day he just logged off and never got back on. I seriously assumed he died irl, and I would never get to talk to him again😅. Stopped playing for 10 years. I got back into OSRS mobile last year and decided to randomly add his old username to my friends list, and he was online. It was actually him.. I couldn't believe it, we remembered everything, and talked for hours.

Thank you to runescape music to help me focus. One more update- I have been accepted into my dream school for radiology! Will still listen to this to help me! Jan 2023- I am about to enter my 3rd semester of radiology school! Doing well so far! Thank you for all the nice comments! I hope everyone is getting to reach their goals this year! August 2023- I'm 9 months away from graduating! Can't wait for my 99 radiology cape (if only there was such a thing). I love reading your comments! Feb 2024- 3 more months until 99 radiology!! I enjoyed the winter event while on break but back to the 99 radiology grind! May 2024- What's up guys!! Tomorrow is my last day of radiology school. It's insane how fast time flew and hard my program was. But I'm so excited to be done and I have been studying for my board exam that is in a few weeks along with my graduation on May 24th. When I was a kid I used to dress up as a priest and hide out in the southern varrock church (the one you need to go to unlock the abyss runecrafting minigame) and whenever a player would walk in to explore or to recharge their prayer points, I would ask them to confess their sins to me. Most people were rude or ignored me, but one time this guy walks in with full rune which was a big deal back then, at least to 12 year old me it was, and we got to talking. I asked him the usual priest stuff, I guess I had a thing for role playing even back then, and he confided in me that the worst thing he had done was to scam one of his class mates out of full rune (the set he was wearing) because he told his friend at school that he could trim it gold for him. I know priests aren't really supposed to tell you to set it right, they're more there to be an outlet for the stuff that's weighing you down and to absolve you of those feelings (I don't know, never spent so much as a day inside real church or ever been in person with an actual priest.) But I couldn't help myself and told the guy that he should give it back, because that rune set is just pixels in a game, but friendships are real and precious and by burning that bridge between his friend he's only causing his own suffering. With all my 12 year old wisdom I somehow managed to convince him to give the rune set back to his friend. At least that's what he said he would do, I added him but he never logged back in again. I still wonder if he really did give it back or if his friend told his mom who told the scammers mom and then he got grounded off of the game for life or something lol. I sometimes remember that kid and lie awake at night thinking about it, it's such a weird interaction to have inside of a video game but it happened, and the fact I'll probably never get closure on the outcome is what really annoys me. Oh well, OSRS music kicks ass at least!

It was at night just before bedtime, but I was so happy and my mom was so happy seeing me so happy that she allowed me to stay up later and play for longer. She probably regretted that decision later because she found me wide awake at 3am in the morning, wandering around the Al-kharid desert, trying to figure out why the crocodile will not die! You would see the old times come back real fast, the simplicity and stupidity. And at least they would become a bit smarter (Increasing vocabulary, learning names of lesser known real life objects, learning the processes of resource production and refining, learning the dangers of gambling, learning supply and demand) much better than the mindless shit kids play nowadays.

These soundtracks always manage to calm me down when I’m feeling stressed out and weighed down by life. Nostalgia is a hell of a drug. When you’re younger you never realize that things will change, and they’ll continue to change often. Before you know it your 5,10, then 15 years older and everyone you used to spend time with is gone. Parents you saw daily get divorced seeing dad on the weekends turns into a few times a year. Friends get busy and distant and before you know it you realize people you used to call your best friends don’t even know you anymore. Everyone moves, works a different schedule, or becomes unavailable after starting a family. My older cousin used to try and explain to me that time goes faster the older you get and I never did believe him until now. Eventually you settle in a place with a consistent schedule. Day in and day out is mostly the same it’s difficult to remember what you did last week because life becomes auto pilot. I will forever cherish my childhood memories and I’m thankful that this video can bring so many of those to the surface. It’s crazy how a sound or smell can really wake you up momentarily.

When I left runescape all those years ago,I had ended my journey and logged out in lumbridge.... which is where I once began in 2004. Upon logging in, I noticed that lumbridge had grown and changed a lot over the years. Just as I had. A huge wave of nostalgia washed over me and I smiled. I have a lot of memories of this game, from riding bikes to the library with the Bois at opening to use our library cards to max up that 2 hour limit, to finally winning my first pvp match and feeling proud. But the memory that always comes up with this game is this: At around level 70, I decided to take a vacation. Like a for real vacation from everything. I planned a trip to the far top left of the map, some beach area I've never went to before. I stocked up on a bunch of food, cooked it all, made sure I had weapons and armor good enough for the journey, and off I went. I fought, stopped at random sights along the way, made it to my destination, took off my armor and just relaxed. I fished, talked with local players if they passed by, I explored, and when my time was done, I took the teleporty stone thing home. I just felt so proud of myself, moreso than any quest or ranking I did.

So many core memories unlocked. I still pop on RuneScape every once in a while for nostalgia but mostly to maintain and old account a friend and I had shared. That friend has since passed away a few years ago and for me some of my best memories with him are from our time in RuneScape. I do not do anything when I go on, just reminisce looking at all the old items in the bank that bring back memories. Back when house phones were still a thing I had a cordless phone and him and would talk on the phone while playing the game until one of our phone’s would die. Core memories that I’ll forever miss and cherish.

The bittersweet notion that childhood is not lasting. Only once you pass this stage, do you realize what you've enjoyed, what you've lived, and what you've loved. Even if you try and replay whatever it was, it simply will never be the same. I remember how I started in 2006. I was so bad at the game - but the music, the characters, the quests, and just the game as a whole was utterly mesmerizing. To top it all off, playing with friends after a whole day at school was great. I never even reached a 99 until 4 years later. That's how much time I spent just fooling and exploring Runescape. Simply going into the log-in screen was epic, and logging in to do whatever was the best; it could be doing minigames (soul wars was amazing), chatting to random people in Lumbridge/GE, walking around, attending drop parties, skilling... To quote Alice in Wonderland, we are all "remembering her own child-life, and the happy summer days." I'm so glad I got to experience this. Thank you, Runescape.

A true masterpiece of a game. Playing from classic, to the initial members servers, and exploring the rs2 update was an amazing journey. With all the changes good and bad it is amazing the game lives to this day, but that community is what I wish I could visit but cannot. Truly a product of the time period it was released. The joy of the first large pvp guild battles, my friends in the black knights, the drop parties outside banks, pvp where everything just dropped to the ground, standing in Varrock and Falador shouting to find a trading partner, going to world drop holiday events, following the progress of the world first 99s, seeing new skills get released, going to new quest updates on release day and seeing Mod Andrew and others watching us explore the content for the first time. The experience is something I will never forget and will always deeply wish everyone could experience as I did. The world needs a new game that takes people on this journey and has the joyful passionate dedicated helpful and unmatched community this game had for so many years!

@@chogak Thank you for sharing, that's a great story man I can tell it really stuck with you. Figured I'd share my story too - When I was a brand new member I managed to earn enough gold from mining iron ore that I could afford rune armor, and there was that cave in the swamp south of the Lumbridge* graveyard that I always wondered what was inside. I took my fresh new armor, a candle, and a tinderbox down to that cave, lit my candle, and started exploring. If you've ever explored black-out caves and needed a light source before, you're probably already cringing. Well a draft randomly happened and blew out my candle and it wouldn't relight easily, so all I could do was frantically click in the darkness hoping I could find the exit before the bugs ate me alive. 1dmg after 1dmg after 1dmg rapidly started appearing and my health depleted faster than I could eat. My nerves were electrified, and adrenaline started coursing through my body. I died in that cave, lost my armor I had spent weeks grinding for, and was left only with the sinking feeling in my heart that my armor was just going to disappear because nobody ever goes down there. As I type this as an adult, I know that my life will be of higher quality from learning at a young age that material possessions are not everything, and that I should enjoy the things I have while I have them because someday I might not have them anymore; and if it is my fault that I lose my favorite possessions, then I should not blame myself for too long or I would just be adding to the pain. Sometimes lessons in life are going to be learned the hard way, and that's ok.

What a blast back to the past... I remember being introduced to Runescape when I was in the computer lab in my secondary school back in 2004, I would have been about 12 then and a guy a year older than me introduced me to it because he wanted a band of people to run around with. I remember immediately loving the vibe of the game, the depth of the skill trees and the progression. Making some friends online, smelting ore after getting home from school or after finishing homework during the colder months are some of the coziest memories I have. I'm pretty sure it also kickstarted my entrepreneurial side too as figuring out ways to make money was a crucial part of the game. I miss all of this. Except for 30:39. That song brings no nostalgia, only an endless void of torture and pain.

Wow thankyou. Seems like every song carries its own memories when you listen to them without runescape.

Played this beautiful game on and off for 15 years now. Grew up with it, as we all did. Runescape will always have a special place in my heart.

That was one of the strongest of the tracks for me. I remember exploring the coast south of the swamp on a F2P world and hearing this for the first time. Sometimes I enjoy to login again and experience the very tranquil feeling of hearing this and crossing the bridge to the wizard's tower once again.

Listening to this makes me really miss those days of playing after school, finally getting membership, and just the feeling of adventure playing for the first time.

My 2021, was a horrible horrible year, and I’m still recovering from it, somehow when I close my eyes, and I listen to this OG RuneScape music, it brings a smile on my face and it reminds me of when life was a bit more simple. Thank you RuneScape for giving all of us an escape for decades. ❤️🙏

I started playing Runescape at 13 years old, i played for many years with my brother, you dont know how its feels... many hours with him killing goblins, then lesser demons, and finally we could kill our first Kalphite Queen..... listenting the best song in OSRS "Volcanic Vikings"..... now im 30 and i work listenting these songs. Best moments in my life. Love you Runescape.
