Very helpful video! I was able to get lasergrbl working (though it took me a while to figure out how to change the laser power and speed). I had a heck of a time with lighburn.. With the help of your video I was able to to figure it out. Thanks!

Hey Roger. I appreciate you helping me. I was able to get the laser up and running and making some art. It was working fine until I dropped my computer and it broke. I got a new one and now the new "same exact computer" currently won't connect to laser grbl. Do you have any ideas as to why? I have looked for troubleshooting answers and I haven't been able to progress.. any advice would be appreciated.

Make sure the CH340 driver is installed on the new computer. Without it, it will not connect.

Hi I just got mine and i installed the drivers from the micro sd, and grbl... mine will not connect to my windows 11pc yet... should i go to the site for drivers and grbl.... or is it true what some say about 1)enabling the dtr signal or 2 raising the baud rate? Thank you Sir

Make sure the laser head connection is tight. I've had this come loose before (not on this laser) and even though it looked connected, it was not.

I have a question for the retired electrician.. Limit switches... Normally closed, right? The Comgo Z1 only has limit switches in order to home the machine.. If I wire them in series, I could add extra limit switches for the other end of the X and Y axis to protect the machine from crashing if I do something dumb.. What do you think?
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
It depends............ Can be either N.O. or N.C., depending on how the firmware is written.
@ericeinsmann55592 жыл бұрын
@@rogersshop understood.. I can check with my multimeter. If NC, it would work I think.. Tripping either one would break the circuit.
@rogersshop2 жыл бұрын
@@ericeinsmann5559 Yes. If N.O. then could be connected in parallel. N.C. would need to be in series.

Hi Roger, thank you for your video. I'm struggling engraving this grid. The lower right corner keep hitting the hard limit. If I move the limit switch barely enough to make it work I end up hitting the screws of the power supply while the laser is traveling. I really think the design could have been better with the positioning of that power supply... Any suggestions? thank you.

In your video you mention that you would put a link in the description of the video for the grid file you used. Is that something that you are able to share?

FYI for any new users that cannot get it to connect. Mine would not connect with stock settings. I had to change from the stock 115600 Baud to 921600 Baud or it would not connect.

Just to add, Light Burn will not work on my machine but grbl will. Not sure what to do at this point. Any ideas would be helpful. So far I've uninstalled and reinstalled everything. Changed COM ports, removed and manually setup a few times as well, still waiting for connection.

hey tryign to figure out how you start from center and set origin, how did you get the laser to the center to set the origin in the first place? just use the X/Y and then move to then set origin? wondering for when i get my Ray5 in .
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
What model Ray 5? If the 5 or 10 watt, it will not have limit switches, so the best way is to use "Current Position" as a start point (from center), and set the laser head manually to the center point before starting. If the 20 Watt, it will have limits and a homing function. Here, use Absolute Coordinates, place project in center of workspace, frame, and go. Make sure you are starting from Home here, and not a random spot.
@62saki91 Жыл бұрын
@@rogersshop i have the 20 watt, with 5watt module ( their dual laser head sale) so i should use the homing feature and just start from home (the 0,0 coordinate)? sorry to pester, just want to make sure i am understanding correctly.
@rogersshop Жыл бұрын
@@62saki91 5 and 10 watt base models do not have limit switches, so homing is not an option. The 20 watt does have limits, and it will home in front left (0, 0)

@@rogersshop so with the 20 watt model, before starting, home it to 0,0 and start from there with absolute coordinates?, even if project is in the center?
