This really brings back memories from when I was younger. I'm still pretty young, but when i was around 6 I got into Spiderman, so my dad busted out all of his old comics and read them with me. I loved it so much. He had like 12 boxes of it, probably about 1.5k comics, and i just loved it. I loved the smell, I loved the art, I loved the worn look. They were all from the late 80s and early 90s, my dad's college years. He had a first printing of The Killing Joke which i never dared open. This really reminds me of him, and since I'm going to college in a few weeks, it reminded me to ask him if I could bring some comics. He's gonna let me bring a box, and gave me advice on collecting. I'm gonna get to spend my college years at the same college he went to reading the same comics he did.

Watchmen ... you need to finish, reread, leave for a while, reread and repeat until you no longer find anything new in it. I've been doing this since 1988..... And I still find new stuff in it. It's deep. It's not perfect. But it is THE superhero masterpiece of all time.

Besides Batman its the only comic series I have been into. The movie and the show recently are amazing. Story is amazing. Music is amazing. Visuals are amazing.

I like how you didn't restrict this to just the comic books everyone knows or things that are "kid friendly." I rarely buy comic books/magazines anymore, but when I was younger I absolutely loved (don't collect now) the Donald Duck comics. I would get a new one every week, and my favorite writers and illustrators are Don Rosa and Carl Barks. I spent hours reading and just staring at their artwork and experiencing their stories with great awe at how amazing they both are/were. Oh man, I think I may just have to go down into my basement and look for them when I get home. Thank you for this video, E.R.

Great video, and great choices. If you haven't read the rest of Grant Morrison's Animal Man run yet, you should. It's fantastic. A few things: Dick Grayson is actually the first Robin, You were thinking of Jason Todd, the second Robin, who was eventually murdered by the Joker. J.H. Williams III was originally both writing and drawing Batwoman. But there have been some change-ups since it started. And Jeff Lemire wrote Sweet Tooth, not Scott Snyder.

I realize its been a while since you uploaded this video, Ephemeral, but I am really interested in the fact that you weren't into The Watchmen. I'm not very well versed in comics but I really enjoyed Watchmen. I know, thats not surprising but I thought it was literally a novel in graphic form. The comic issues of Halo have amazed me and I would recommend you to check them out,if your not a fan of the game you can still fall in love with it,it goes for more of a batman go for it style rather than tradition Halo short story. Defiantly worth checking out.

Jason dies, and Tim Drake is the third Robin. In New 52, Dick is Nightwing, Jason is Red Hood, Tim is Red Robin, and Damian is Robin.
