The comic you were talking about where Hulk goes to another planet is Planet Hulk, he gets sent their because SHIELD decide he's too dangerous around others on Earth, thus they send him into space to go to a far off planet where he can be by himself but the spacecraft he's on gets sucked into a wormhole and he crash lands on a different planet. Planet is already inhabited and he gets captured and ends up fighting in a Colosseum/gladiator setting. It's really good, they've made a movie and if you don't want to read the comic, definitely check out the movie it's worth the watch.

I am singly responsible for 10k views of this video. Even more therapeutic than the asmr qualities of this video is the content. RIFT. More comic videos. Please. Maybe read a mini series and just discuss it. Start by buying Kill or Be Killed. It's a Brubaker and Phillips work so you'll definitely get it. There's only 20 in the whole run. That's it. Buy the first trade and do a video on that and see how you go. You would make my day if you get back into comics.

Hi EM, I found this video extremely fun to watch and one of my favourites in a long time. And although I've subscribed relatively recently I've watched a lot of videos of yours to understand the complex characters and worlds you have created. I am a huge lover of superheroes so I know absolutely everything about comics but have only just begun actually reading them myself, so we are in a sorta similar position but with different levels of knowledge. Unfortunately I am the only person I know who likes comics, which doesn't really bother me since we have the internet to find like minded people on. Regardless I love both you're wonder and the mistakes you make when talking about comics. I normally find the people I speak to about comics, but they tend to either know more than me, or simply do not care. Your genuine interest is amazing to watch for me. (I may have to donate to patreon because of it) For the record the main comics companies are Marvel and DC obviously, but the three other publishers of fruition are Image, Vertigo and Dark Horse. Archie and IDW are the other two, with the latter doing Transformers and G.I.Joe. For the record here is a few answers to you're questions. There are no current runs of Hellboy or Judge Dredd, though I may be wrong about the first. Regarding not being able to pick up on long-running series', the new way comics seem to be moving is more of a seasonal route, with new runs beginning again every year with new #1s that make a jump-in point for new readers. Marvel is currently going through a revamp event that will last until October, with after October 55-60 new #1s starting so everyone can see even the most niche characters get their own books. This would be a perfect place to jump in as all the stories will take place In the same universe to make things nice and simple for everyone. The 'Planet Hulk' storyline of '06 saw a group of marvel's smartest people called the Illuminati (stay with me) send hulk away to space in exile because of the damage he caused in a previous storyline, so he lands on a planet and is captured by aliens and forced into gladiatorial games stuck in hulk form. He fights with fellow slaves, and using his powers, inspires the slaves to fight back against the oppressive race. Punch punch later he impregnates an alien woman while hulk (yep it happened) has a son and becomes the king if the planet, only to take his new army to earth to try and kill those who sent him into space in a story called 'World War Hulk'. Comics, eh? The fantastic four are actually retired at the moment, with all of them going they're separate ways after 400 issues. It's due to Fox owning the rights to the fantastic four film series, which marvel are not happy with so they are basically trying to sabotage the film by writing them out of the comics. Dick move I know. I'd look out for Captain America: Civil War next year in cinema, you may or may not see the iconic scene of his death on film (spoilers!) *wink* *wink* DC is also going through a revamp series, though I think the new titles will not be all in the same world as opposed to marvel's if that makes sense. As opposed to this, DC is going to explore a lot of books at the same time, all in different universes. This means storytelling continuity doesn't really matter like marvel's does, so a mix of themes, interpretations of characters, art styles and stories will all be going on without each other's books dragging down the continuity. Hope that makes sense. Some prominent writers at the moment are Jonathan Hickman, who is doing the avengers for the last three years, as well as running the entire universe changing 'secret wars' event I mentioned earlier. Robert Kirkman is still on The Walking Dead, no idea what issue now. Scott Snider is currently writing Batman and some really amazing and polarising things with him at the moment. You referenced Todd Mcfarlen, who created Spawn, e most famous character from Image comics. Anyway I very much liked this episode as you can see, and I could write forever but I'll leave it at that. I don't expect you to reply but that's a few answers to some of your questions!

Back in 2003 I was about 4 years old. My uncle who as in high school loved comic books but I couldn't read. So one day my grandmother took him and I to a comic book store called Mighty KC's Comics. I walked in and I was amazed at all the cool stuff in there. I had collected the spiderman action figures at the time and I had no clue that he was based off of comic books. So I walked over to the spiderman comics and picked out marvel team up #4 the Fantastic 4 and Spiderman. I immediately fell in love with comic books. I who have my dad read me that comic book all the time.

When I was a kid I never read comic books. I never even owned any. But, I loved Spider-Man and the Hulk. They were just the coolest things. I remember I would play the original Spider-Man game for the PS1 all day. I eventually went to a local comic book store around my early teens with my dad and he was gracious enough to buy me some comics of my choosing. I didn't know how comics worked back then, so I just picked out some that looked interesting. All in the Amazing Spider-Man series. I remember one with Venom, one with The Lizard, one where Peter Parker came back to life from the dead (or something like that), one where Spider-Man and Hobgoblin fight off Demogoblin, and a few others I can't remember at the moment. I still have them somewhere around here. A few years ago I delved deep into the comic world. I don't really have access to comics as they are too expensive for me to just go and buy. However, I've read into a ton of lore and backstory for a lot of characters/story archs and I have friends that keep me well informed when we discuss the comic world. Of course I've seen all the movies and played most of the games regarding any comic book character. I even play a Marvel mobile game multiple times a day. Colossus is my best character on that game. Overall, I think my favorite character is and always will be Spider-Man.

I actually just got done reading my first comic book, though I guess you'd probably consider The Long Halloween more of a graphic novel. I was really surprised to learn just how much The Dark Knight, my favorite film of all time, was influenced by that great story. Always been a huge fan of Batman, and I'm looking forward to exploring more of his story on the pages, as well as those of his enemies. Something something bring back Young Justice. Thanks for the vids, Rift. I don't usually comment, but I feel like I should just let you know how much it means to me and many others that you do this. Now I'm going to school to make comics, or well, graphic novels. Which you should totally get into. They're like comics but longer and normally only one book long. It's all about story and being artistic and having a bigger meaning and I think you'd love them. Some best in my opinion are Asterios Polyp, king city, Allens War, fun home, and little star. All by diffrent people but if you look up (title) graphic novel you should be able to find them :)

Hey Rift, I've been thinking of starting collecting Marvel after the Battleworld pseudo-reboot. Any thoughts on that series and/or the idea of starting after them? Dear E.R., I really enjoy your videos, and always find them really relaxing. I think your myriad acting talents are amazing, and how you put them to great use on the internet in the service of others. I also really enjoy comic books, so I find these types of videos even more interesting than your normal ones ( although, truth be told, it was your roleplays that lead me purchase the collected works of H.P. Lovecraft, but thats beside the point). Anyway, as I'm only thirteen I've just got into comics, but my favourite one that I have at the moment would have to be 'The Flash' Future's End One Shot. I also have quite a few Green Lantern TPBs, and am looking to collect more. So, two questions: 1. Have you any trade paperbacks or series's that you would recommend for me to collect? (This an open question, anyone can answer) and, 2. Have you tried manga, as it is kind of like Japanese comics? If you haven't I would recommended a good title to start of with being 'Dragonball' and 'Dragonball Z', in the new 3-in-1 collected. Thank you for wading through my lengthy comment, and taking into account what I have said, Yours sincerely, Rory

Hey Ephemeral, you may have already read them but there is an ongoing book series called the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. It pulls from quite a few different mythologies and some of the bloodier parts of the bible to tell the story of a middle aged wizard living in Chicago and having to deal with how all of these forces balance out in the world. They're a good read but I should warn you there are already 14 books written for it so you might be reading it for awhile.
