Awesome to see kind of an expanded version of your old comic shelf tour pick-up video! Watched that one several times over the years. (I always enjoy seeing these kinds of vids and comparing different collections to my own.) As far as my own shelf goes, I tend to stick mostly to independent companies because a lot of the books I'm into are licensed ones. (Like IDW's Sonic/TMNT/Ghostbusters/Beast Wars/MLP, Boom's various PR stuff, and Oni's Invader Zim.) Though, I DO dip more than a bit into Marvel on occasion, mostly for Spider-Man and Deadpool-related series. (VERY much anticipating the 2099 Omnibuses, especially Volume 2, since I read the majority of that run on Marvel Unlimited and really loved it. Now, if only the 2012 Scarlet Spider series could get a new collection. I'd KILL for that.) I also collect primarily in trade and hardcover form for ease of both storage and reading, but I actually started my collection off proper by picking up Archie's Sonic series month by month back in the early 2000s. Heck, including the stuff in the Archives collections that I own, I've got close to every single regular issue of that book in some form, plus the entirety of the Universe, Boom, and Mega Man runs. Guess you could say that my whole hobby was started by a Hedgehog.

Honestly, starting with Archie Sonic is one of the better starting points for comics. I started way back with DC animated series tie ins like The Batman Strikes, Justice League Unlimited and Teen Titans Go! (The original show's tie in, not the new show's tie in). I love a lot of licensed books too and its always sad when they come to an end
@TheLazyShell Жыл бұрын
@Soundout12 Oh, animated tie-in stuff is great, especially when they have staff from the actual show on board and/or stories that can be organically placed within the show's timeline rather than simple one-and-dones. Those add a nice bit of legitimacy to the whole deal. (That's the main reason why the first Marvel collections I ever actively picked up were for the Avengers EMH tie-in book.) I wish the big two would put more effort into collecting that kinda stuff. Young Justice got lucky with that, but the fact that both the 03 Titans and TTG are so popular, yet you can't physically collect a complete run of the original TTG book unless you hunt down back issues is ridiculous. I'd also love to be able to pick up tie-in books that I wasn't paying much attention to at the time, like the ones for Batman TBATB and Super Hero Squad.

X-Men and Spider-Man is actually really fun. I had never heard of it before David Displays Model Behaviour recommended it. If you can, try to move that one to the top of the list. It’s one single story told across multiple eras of X-Men and Spider-Man. It’s kind of a quick read, but the concept is worth it. Ok. Back to realizing my collection’s not as big as I thought…

Nice collection! Claremont X-Men is my favorite. I mostly just collect single issues but I like the Marvel Epic Collections to build full runs. The Omnibus make nice trophy like items for your shelf, and i have a few. but i find them really impractical to read cause they're so big and heavy. you have to practically sit at a table.

Agreed! I have this large pillow I use to put Omnis on if I want to read them. I much prefer compendiums to omnibuses since being paperback makes them lighter. I love Marvel's Epic Collection line so much. Perfect size volumes

9:29 That's it. You got the whole New 52 Aquaman run. The Cullen Bunn run does not exist. 11:29 "But they was unknown!" 16:13 And now I am jealous. The new reprints are too expensive due to how limited they are. 20:38 True. Reason why I am getting any DC trade that I want ASAP. I learned my lesson.

Could you do a video about THE LEGION OF SUPERHEROES? I´ve always been interested in them but I´ve read that their continuity never gets affected (truly) by DC universe reboots and that there´s not jumping on points. You must start at the beginning.
@Soundout12Ай бұрын
I'll definitely put it on my list. I love the Legion but its definitely hard to get into their history. They have had several reboots of Legion continuity over the years, which helps.

Thank you so much for making this video! Sorry for the late reply, been inspired to go through my shelves after watching this. Do you ever get rid of books you don't like after reading? I'm in the process of doing that now and was curious from your side as well
@Soundout12 Жыл бұрын
My usual method is that I keep stuff on this shelf, then remove things over time. Then every few months I look at what I have and decide “Am I going to read this again?“ and if I feel I won’t, I trade them in at my comic shop
@yaddasmelkins Жыл бұрын
@Soundout12 great minds seem to think alike then lol. My newest is only getting things I haven't read or I know I want to read again, but in either an omnibus or hardcover if possible. Floppies are such a hard thing too because some things I want to keep in both (like power rangers), but others I only want in Floppies. Roughly how many long/short boxes do you think you have now? After getting rid of some runs you got in collected editions?
@Soundout12 Жыл бұрын
@@yaddasmelkins I have 11 long boxes right now. I typically get rid of anything I’ve got in collection editions with the exclusion of Hawkman, Blue Beetle, DC’s Legion, Ghost Rider, Power Rangers and IDW TMNT I should sell off my IDW TMNT cause they take a lot of space but I’ve got every issue from 1-136 (and still going) so its hard to let that go
@yaddasmelkins Жыл бұрын
@Soundout12 I get that 100% on keeping certain series. I'm the same way with power rangers and young justice. Probably going to become a completionist on nightwing, Kyle rayner, and young Avengers Rayner, but can see purging alot of stuff that gets collected as well. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the same passions/hurdles with collecting so many things haha

Looking at the GL books makes me wonder when will DC put Razer in the comics universe Seriously DC you know we love him to the point where you put him in Young Justice as a Blue Lantern so please put him in the comics Also if I highly recommend Godzilla Rulers of Earth which is an awesome Godzilla comic especially if you want to see Jet Jaguar being awesome by fighting Destroyah as well as ripping Orga apart from the inside which is probably where most of the fandom's love for Jet Jaguar comes from

Razer not making the jump to comics is so baffling. GL continues to be cursed I read some of Rulers of the Earth but I honestly need to go back and read all of it. That sounds amazing
