John Romita, Sr. has always been my all-time favorite Spider-Man artist. I couldn't get enough of Spidey comics when I first started reading them in the late seventies, right around the time that Gwen Stacy died. I was in second grade when I read my first Spider-Man comic. I wish I still had it. I don't remember the issue #, but it involved Peter and J. Jonah Jameson being manacled together by the arms, to a bomb. That issue still brings a smile to my face when I think about it. Now that the Marvel Civil War trailer 2 has been released, I am thrilled to see the intense salute to John Romita, Sr. in Spider-Man's costume.

Ah, John Romita. Yes! When I think of Spider-Man, I picture John Romita's artwork. I'm reading through the Masterworks series now and when it transitioned over to Romita from Ditka, I was like, "Oh yes, there it is!" The transition is interesting because it was only after Romita took over that the storylines became more interesting and there was more going on in Parker's life with Gwen, Harry and company. Not as much before that so I definitely see Romita's influence and what he brought with him to the series when he took over.
