Blame the Fantastic 4. Before them, super heroes didn't have problems.

Kurtzman and Davis were a huge part of my childhood in the 70's the golden age of Mad.

I love these Interviews. Much better than the garbage on TV these days. Stan being himself interviewing the greatest artist & writers of our time is a breath of fresh air. And Mad Magazine had some amazing talent. Jack Davis with his distinct Caricature style, but Mort Drucker was my favourite for sure.

The "interviewer" loves the sickening sound of his own voice. That spoils this for me.

I came to know about Jack Davis and Harvey Kurtzman at around mid 2000's when I started to discover mid century illustration and now I can finally put a face to the names. God, I love Jack Davis!

Ah, John Romita. Yes! When I think of Spider-Man, I picture John Romita's artwork. I'm reading through the Masterworks series now and when it transitioned over to Romita from Ditka, I was like, "Oh yes, there it is!" The transition is interesting because it was only after Romita took over that the storylines became more interesting and there was more going on in Parker's life with Gwen, Harry and company. Not as much before that so I definitely see Romita's influence and what he brought with him to the series when he took over.

Both Romitas' are legends. Always preferred Romita's Mary Jane to anyone elses. Something about here just seemed so spirited and realistic.

What a joy to watch!!!!😀😀😀😀😃😃😄😄 Thank you for putting this up. I recently read the Comic Creators interview/overview of J.R Snr & it brought the same smile to my face. What a lovely man! Stan was on top form too. Stan genuinely ADMIRED Johnny Romita & it certainly comes across. His son is such a talent now! Highly regarded with his own distinctive style! A real "Cool-School" here!

Stan Lee just paid people to created characters he made names and slight stories up for sometimes but mostly other people made the names and stories so it was people who he paid and then they done all the work and he got all the credit lol wtf long nose gold seeking rug kneeling con man

Jack Kirby’s writing was totally different when he worked with Stan. Jack was more interested in religious, cosmic and epic characters and stories. Jack Kirby barely made humanized characters in his own solo work like he did with Marvel. Joe Simon made Kirby write American patriotic heroes, and Stan Lee made him draw humanized characters with personal struggles who happen to be in superhero stories.

Damn the EC guys Jack and Harvey are both in their 70s here I think, pretty sure Stan was a similar age. Jack and Stan seem so well compared to the state that Harvey seems to be in, no wonder the men went on to their 90s, makes me feel for all of them. RIP all artists here, truly trail blazers in art and culture. I still try to emulate all these guys in my art. I've been searching for Jack Davis working on his art, always wondered what his process was in the EC days, this is the closest I could find even though it's not even ink!
