After 30 years of collecting comic books I have finally built the storage system of my dreams. I still have some minor cosmetic work to do, but I'd say the whole thing is about 95% complete.

Not a comic book collector but even I think this is awesome. I got bounced here after searching wood working sites and as I wood worker I can really appreciate the thought and detail that went into the construction of this cabinet. 2 big thumbs up.

Love this way of storage. I was thinking wouldn't it be great it it was double-sided? Then, I could store my comics on one side and my stilettos on the other side. Now, that's a dream come true! Great work by you and your father. Thanks for sharing.

Once that fills up, go through them for the books that are worthless or you aren't interested in keeping, and give them away or sell them off. That's something I recently did, it's more fun than it sounds.

Hallo Chris, and thank you for making this video. Your cabinet is one of the finest comic book storage solutions I have ever seen. I myself have tried to make something similar, only not as good as yours. See here: My comic book cabinet But it functions to my liking. Thanks again for giving me and others the inspiration to make our collections shine.

I would distribute the weight better and start from the bottom with the comics and go up.Another thing is the comics in the front are going to be exposed to light thru the plexiglassjust a couple of thoughts. Great job, wish I would have thought of something like this back when I was collecting. Thanks for sharing.

3/4 inch thick for the towers, 5/8 inch thick for the boxes. The boxes were also a special kind of smooth plywood which was a little pricier but a necessity to prevent any splinters or rough wood damaging the comics.

Very nice looking for storage but I am confused... You stated these comfortably hold 150 comics per drawer... then at 2:15 runtime in the video, you state you have north of 6000 comics in this already with nearly a whole row yet to be filled... BUT if you do the math 35 drawers x 150 comics... your max fill would be 5250 comics... and if you went at your "stress test" amount of 200 you would be able to store 7000 comics. Since your drawers don't seem to have 200 in them... how can you have north of 6000 comics and still have nearly an entire row empty? The one thing I would recommend is changing out all of your light bulbs to LED's that emit zero UV light. Certain incandescent and CFL bulbs emit UV which would do harm against the books against the plexiglass. Also, make sure you have your humidity controlled to a consistent level in this room. Especially since you stated the furnace room is just behind the storage...

This is perfect! i have been looking all over the web how to store my comic books and by far this is the most brilliant way i have found. It might be too much to ask but could you provide some measures and materials that you used to put it together? I'm not too much of a handy man but i would like to give it a shot at your cabinets. Thanks!

Looks really great! Since it's been a couple of years now I was wondering if you've experienced any issues due to the amount of weight on the drawers? Any sagging? How are the rails holding up? Anything that you would have done differently now that you've lived with it for a while? Thank, and again, great work!

Love this solution. I have something similar in mind...but not so tall and more enclosed like a file cabinet. Thanks for the info on weight, that is something i have wondered about. Do you have any dimension info? Did you build them just to fit modern/bronze comics, or did you take silver/gold into consideration? Can you take the drawers completely out? Thanks again for shareing!

im not sure if this has been mentioned but i dont feel like scrolling thru 150+ comments. you added a space of comics next to a furnace? as you know heat is bad for comics. they need a cool dark space. in addition i like the way you can see the comics thru the plexiglass but this solution doesnt allow for easy expansion especially when you’ve carved out space from a wall.
