No 170 is not too low. That book deserved a 9.8 and there will be many more 9.9s on the market in the coming years since the 9.9 giveaway scheme at CGC is a recent thing.

@@Fin-gj2thhave you seen CGC’s new “comparison grading”? They look at multiple copies and grade based on what’s been subbed vs actual grading by standards now. It’s a joke favoring big dealers and auction houses.

Apologies I disagree. It’s not low - a chump paid at this price. Sorry. Prices are correcting and this is in line. Plus another 9.9 will inevitably pop up in a month destroying its value.

Glad that it sold for that considering the fact that it's not even a 9.9 when u look at the cover alone. Ppl are also starting to wise up to the fact that cgc is now giving 9.9s like hot cakes so these books aren't nearly as rare as they used to be.

Maybe it would’ve sold for more of it was a 9.9. This has GRADER NOTES. You can see at least 5 different sets of defects on it.

I agree that this should have sold for 250k+. But there is a lot of uncertainty with this book. How did it get a 9.9? Surely it wasn’t sitting out as a raw copy ungraded for decades. Surely it wasn’t a 9.8 that got cracked and cleaned pressed (too much risk in that 24k decision). So it was a 9.4/9.6 that got upgraded. Another risk being that what will CGC do, if they lax on decades of grading work just for the sake of resubmission dollars. So could others get 9.9s and 10s? A lot of questions, and the general feel for this particular book in the market along with who got the grade, and the timing of it, is questionable and hated on. But in general, this 9.9 should have gotten a lot more just based on historical numbers.

Just imagine all the dummies who are gonna crack slabs and re submit cause they got greed in their hearts and end up re adjusting the census down a few notches, if you got a 9.9, leave it in the slab, period! How many stories do we hear that it doesn't turn out so well after they do this?

People are going to crack open there 9.4, 9.6, or 9.8 and resubmit it and have it prescreen for a 9.9 or better yet buy raw and then send it. Nobody is going to want a 9.8 or lower.
