I'm a bit ashamed to admit I bought 4 of the 5 books on Whatnot. Besides the Venom which was slabbed, all were in worse condition than advertised but not too bad. At least the 2 copies I got of ASM 238 had the tats inserts. Still, don't be like me kids, avoid Whatnot and buy from your LCS or a reputable dealer.

This is why comics books were enjoyed most by children, now, as adults, they are less a source of wonderment than a commodity compared with the stock market, as a smarter place to spend yr money. When Action #1 went for $300 in 1972, I could have bought 10 of them. Not today. I also could buy a home for $25k. And could live like a prince on $20k/yr Not today. Today, we get to listen to comic book collectors spin an imaginary tale about interest rates affecting comic book market prices. There is no connection at all between comics and the prime rate. Good luck with finding that econ paper on the Federal Reserve web site. As if!

Companies aren’t hiring anyone at a livable wage. Nor are they paying the few existing workers more. You have 5 guys now having to do the work of 10 guys for every company while they suck out record profits for the top.

Does the November election help or hurt comic book values? And why is it so hard for Americans to have a third option in an election (Canadian here)?
@ComicBookInvestmentsКүн бұрын
It won’t make a difference
@MarcSpectorComicsКүн бұрын
We have a third option it's the independent party. That party gets less than 15% of the vote and ultimately is wasted unless it goes to the dem or rep party. Our party system is vastly corrupt. But regardless of who wins it has no impact on the comic market
@khoyle865Күн бұрын
I agree we need more power in 3 and maybe 4 parties. The 2 party system like a scratched record at the end of the LP. It just sits there and repeats the same thing! We never get anywhere! Republicans get in they undo what the democrats did and vice a versa. The only people that take it in the but is us the little people. With that said I will disagree with you on what will happen with this election. If mrs. Word salad gets in she will move the needle to a marxist/communistic country. She was raised that way so naturally that’s how she thinks! As they say, “Are you better off than 4 years ago”?
@davidsamuelson2089Күн бұрын
Because there’s too much money & power in the entrenched 2 party system in the US. That’s why we can’t have a 2 best candidate open election & have to have primaries so you’re forced to get 1 Dem & 1 Pub - then the election begins again.

Every collectible market on the planet exploded in 2020 to 2021 almost solely due to money being given to people when they didn't need it, low interest rates, and in the US the pause of student repayment loans. I was being given $2000 a month for 18 months in that period where I live when I didn't need it. Guess where it went, to collectibles, crypto, online shopping and ubereats type food services. Lower interest rates will help every market including collectibles, but just like it always helps stimulate spending when borrowing is cheaper. Yay, blackrock is gonna buy the rest of the houses they didn't already buy.

@tntcomicbooksКүн бұрын
Dave, you are stating only what all comic book collectors wish. Comic prices were damaged too significantly in 2021/2022 by greed. Driven mainly by CGC values and commission based sellers. Too many games with their grades, dealer/artist exclusives, false/manufactured rarity, people like you pumping and selling books and us sheep that got sucked into the wishful $$ thinking. Prices will never come back for 90% of books. 5% should hold value and 5% will go up. New comics are a total waste of one’s money to grade. It’s the old key books that should be bought as investments. Lesson learned for me.

It’s nice and trumpish how u spew hate and blame for ppl who got those tiny checks instead the corruptions in those PPP loans.
@davidsamuelson2089Күн бұрын
Exactly, none of those people that did not properly use those PPP loans ever had to pay the government back either, or get thrown in jail for fraud. Those PPP checks were the worst thing that the government could’ve done, because every business owner took that money and didn’t hire or properly keep anybody the way that the law stipulated that money should’ve been used.
