Actually, Will Evans was mainly introduced so they could bring back Deadshot's backstory from the older universe. In the New 52, they created a new backstory for Deadshot where his family were killed by bullets that passed through the walls of their house because of some nearby violence and this is what inspired Floyd Lawton to never waste a bullet. Later they wanted to retcon this, but they actually did it in a pretty clever way by revealing that it was actually Will's backstory and that he told Floyd it while they were both in prison. Floyd then adopted the backstory as part of his mystique, since he didn't want to reveal too much about his actual history and family.

I don't know why, but I've honestly always liked the original Clock King. The design he only got for that single issue of Suicide Squad was really cool to me, and I really want to see a version of William Tockman meeting that style return as a Green Arrow villain.

Speaking of Savant, I had someone tell me and oversell how important he was. Like going in about how he's so smart and clever, a popular Birds of Prey character, and is prominently known for being gay, so Gunn wouldn't kill him off in the first wave... I had to tell him, that using your common sense will tell you he's not that important for the movie, and that he won't deactivate the bomb in his head, or get help from his boyfriend, who we've never met, so he can join the Batgirl movie or something. He said "Wait, and see"... Cut to now, we saw, he was not happy lol. So Savant stepping on a landmine and is barely remembered since is the cherry on top for me.

Sorry to be a killjoy, but Savant's DC wiki page says he somehow managed to escape this. He then refused an offer by Waller to make him the squad's leader, choosing to go free as long as he kept mum about the government's squad program. That seems to have worked out so far.

Morrison dies during the initial raid after writers block, which means Gunn loses direction and gets distracted too, then gets shot through his glasses leaving the rest of the Suicide Squad team stranded, and Waller has to send in C team to recue them.

That's a really tough question. I specifically did include administrators like Havana in this, but Rick is in the field a lot. I wouldn't consider him for something like a video like this, but I guess technically he is a member and the longest running at that.

Huge Suicide Squad fan, so LOVED this video! Back in the 80's, when the Squad first came out, I found it seemed a very convenient way for DC to dust various one-shot minor-league villains, kinda like Marvel did with Scourge a few years earlier. Instead I found the comic gradually made a lot of the surviving villains into real fleshed-out characters, who I just absolutely fell in love with! *cough* DEADSHOT! *Cough, cough**

Jon Ostrander is one of the greatest comics writers for me hands down. His runs on Suicide Squad, Spectre and Firestorm are absolutely legendary. I'd love to see you tackle some of his stuff sometime, maybe a video on how Spectre somehow takes place in the mainline DC Universe and Vertigo at the same time, or the best recurring character ever, Father Craemer

Yeah, there's no way the same method works for a ghost. There have to be certain members brought to the team under special circumstances. Like would the bomb method work on Mirror Master if he leaves into his Mirror World? Would she use it on Reactron and kill everyone for miles? Hack influences technology, so can't she deactivate her and everyone else's bomb?

Great video Drake just wanted to say a quick correction in the New 52 Lime was the first to die by head bomb. But the first actual head bomb death was in Raise The Flag the 2007 series by John Ostrander Puma a minor villain starts a riot at Belle Reve and attempts to negotiate with Amanda Waller to be let out of the prison which she responds that he has a “small explosive device inserted into the base of his skull.” Waller then responds that her pen is the detonator and tells him to let her guards go. Puma says Waller is talking crap and everyone knows the Squad uses arm bombs and not head bombs. She then pops his head like a balloon.

I love the Ostrander run and am a fan of the concept/series as a whole. One of my favorite parts of the series is how it randomly spotlights characters you either completely forgot about or never knew of to begin with.

Same Ostrander and his wife Kim Yale added so much to these characters. Especially Deadshot considering how his entire personality and backstory from the miniseries they both wrote called Beginnings still has plot points that show up in the Suicide Squad animated films and when Deadshot appears in the Arkham games. Plus just his whole mentality and development as a character was really added by Ostrander and his wife.

Heck, they could fill a good twenty-plus issue series using all the fan-created bad guys from the old Dial H for Hero feature. Considering how many of them were retconned as super-powered clones, this would help the government clean up a very confusing mess with random citizens having costumed criminal look-alikes!

I usually think of Grant Morrison as a very continuity-minded writer, due to Batman R.I.P. and the Black Casebook, so even though the affirmation is right, calling them someone who famously doesn't care for continuity caught me by surprise.
