I’ll say this - as lukewarm as Zdarsky’s run on Batman has started so far, the final arc of his Daredevil run is an absolute masterpiece. This is legitimately going to go down as an iconic run on the character on par with Waid and Miller.

I think his run is going to suffer a little bit from all these event tie-ins. I like the multiverse stuff but it’s not what I want in the main BATMAN title. I have hopes he will turn it around. I’ve been liking the book so far but I do think he dragged a little too long in the multiverse story.

I wonder how Sal would feel about the multiverse/zur-en-ah Zdarsky story if it was just an out of continuity graphic novel like Bendis's Batman Universe. Part of the problem seems to be the baggage of being the current continuity Batman (with a dead Alfred, etc), and the fact that it means the flagship Batman book ISN'T Batman solving crimes in Gotham (or the occasional world hopping type story).

I’m looking forward to Comic Pop’s coverage of Marvel’s handling of Ms Marvel. Their marketing tactics have made me so sick that I feel taking a break from comics altogether. Last time I quit reading comics because of Civil War 2 and Secret Empire. With Marvel I feel like you can’t just ignore the event and read other stuff because it will ruin other stuff. Comics are exhausting and they capitalize on keeping readers angry. At least DC is great right now.

Honestly it's so refreshing to take a break when the thing you like makes you unhappy. I've taken a step back from comics, manga, even sports and model building when it became stressful, boring or upsetting, and I had a fresh appreciation for them when I came back. It's one of the few things in life you CAN control.

My favorite part of the last Batman issue was seeing Bruce and Jason standing side by side, Jason with a smile on his face. It was wholesome seeing the "black sheep" being regarded as part of the family again.

Sals right Batman hasn’t been good really since Scott snyder and capullo Tom king sent the Batman book down hill and it hasn’t recovered since James tynion started out strong and died out with fear state zdarsky started out decent and now it’s just not good

i would argue the first 4 volumes of tom king's batman run is really good. it's only after war of jokes and riddles the run becomes something different. which i don't think is inherently good or bad, it's just different.

I think Batman is great, best run since Snyder, but this is coming from a casual fan. I think that how important to a book is to you changes enjoyment significantly during these sorts of runs. Since Batman is on the bottom of my stack I don’t have a broad frame of reference and it’s all fresh for me
