Welcome back to another glorious episode of Comics & Brews where we tell you the drunk history of comic book characters. Join your host TazAlGhul and co-host Just Abby for the incredible time traveling tale of Professor Oak. We decided to once again stray away from comic book specific for this history and dove into a wee sprinkle of anime.
In this episode we tell you why we’re on a Coors Light strike after Molson Coors closes the most historic Wisconsin brewery Leinenkugel’s which has been around for more than 100 years. The leinenkugels offered something to Coors in hopes to save it and were just swiftly rejected. So the 100+ year brewery is shutting down and they’ll only have their little tasting room. A huge downfall for Chippewa Falls in Wisconsin. For sure a big blow to this town losing a historic brewery. Terribly sorry for the 50+ employees who were shell shocked by this news which came out of the blue a few months ago. Shoutout to the brothers for attempting a buy back. We shall now be drinking everything else that isn’t Molson Coors for the time being. If you have never been to Chippewa falls I’m sure it’s touch to understand how this could have such a huge effect but I’m sure it does. Tiny town vibes.
Since we’re doing a Pokemon Episode it only felt right to sip our beers out of the #Bulbahops and the #KarpeDiem Glass.
Our beers of the episode are:
Lua Brewing: They Sent You Hazy IPA - Out of Des Moines Iowa - The can literally has a flying Furby in a space ship obducting circle of naked dancing people below it. It’s a hazy IPA with citrus & Krush and absolutely slapssss.
Weldwerks Brewing: Maple Praline Cheesecake Sour Ale with maple syrup, pecan, praline and brown sugar. I rated it a 4.0 out of 5. Tastes exactly how they explain it and still was bangin even when it got warm.
This is a character I’ve wanted to do for ages since he is such a historic pillar of the Pokemon universe. Samuel Oak is literally like the Einstein of Pokemon and truly is the core of Pokemon itself creating a legend in Ash.
Did you know that Oak wasn’t always a professor? Back in his younger days he was actually a Pokemon trainer. A legendary one at that.
Rivals? Yes he had one. Agatha from the Elite 4 was quite spicy on the battlefield and possibly in the sack … ayoooo. Professor Oak be wheeling.
Did you remember that he actually time traveled in the Celebi movie to hang out with the present day Ash? If you’re like me and hadn’t seen it since it came out it was quite mind blowing to re-visit this incredible shakeup in the storyline. Oak is the OG Pokemon influencer and has seen all of this coming from that time traveling day on.
So join us as we dive into all of this craziness and tell this history of one of the finest old men out there in comics, anime or manga. After we did this we got more details and purchased all of the Manga books (1-7) of Pokemon adventures so be sure to keep your eyes peeled for the drunk history of some of these characters. Blue might be a fun one!
If you haven’t listened to our episode of the Drunk History of Brock be sure to follow this one up with that incredible episode. You won’t be dissapointed.
