Back then I thought Iron Man along with other b list characters didn’t have major storylines we all know dc wins when it comes to storylines. I actually prefer the design of the Pentagon Armor(model 25) more than the Extremis Armor(model 29) especially the helmet P.S. the model 25 is the first armor seen in issues 1-4 also the cover arts for issues 1-5 and the model 29 is the new one from 5-6, which is why people often mistake the Pentagon armor for the Extremis

I personally think Extremis is a bit of an overrated story, and a bit underwhelming for me personally after so much hype, but that doesn’t change the fact that it was a crucial part of Iron Man lore for a long time and I definitely recognize and respect the significance it had in shaking up the status quo of the character. What wasn’t covered here is that while Tony was under due to Extremis re-writing his body, he dreamed about his time in captivity (i.e., his origin, the events that led him to become Iron Man) and it’s this retelling of his Origin that became the basis for the modern retcon/retelling, including the version we see in the first Iron Man movie. 😁 So that was kind of cool, even though it does drastically change the tone and setting of the original origin (and recently it’s been implied that they’re trying to shift it back to close to the original version just with some modern updates…) I don’t wanna be “THAT” person, but during the outro breakdown discussing the importance of Extremis, the cover used for the “Disassembled” arc was actually for the Iron Man tie-in from Avengers Disassembled, which is a very different story than Matt Fraction’s “Stark Disassembled” arc during his Invincible Iron Man run (where you talk about how he went on the run and deleted his mind so Osborn wouldn’t get the SHRA list to target unregistered heroes). As much as I adored Fraction’s entire run, even I could recognize that most of what he had to do during the first half of the run (including “Stark Disassembled”) was essentially damage control since Civil War broke the character so damn badly 😰😭 Perhaps maybe someday we can cover some of Fraction’s Invincible Iron Man? As far as I understand it was apparently quite celebrated at the time but now no one really talks about it?? 😰 (Typical I guess…no one ever wants to talk about my boi Shell-Head lol 😂) Anyway, apologies for the off topic bit at the end. I spent most of my pandemic lockdown finally getting into Marvel comics and I read probably way too much Iron Man. Like…ALL OF IT. More than anyone probably should. But I had more than enough time to read and I just love Iron Man so dang much 😫❤️ It’s probably not healthy lol… 😅 Looking forward to future stories!! ❤️✌🏽😁

The first time I read the name Extremis, it was on a old Marvel Legends figure, which I bought because the armor looked so cool.
