I own the entire series. By far one if the best life stories of a human being who happens to be a hero. The stress of being that is truly shown as they have issues just like everyone else but a responsibility to save the world all of the time.

It's just so interesting that Iron man has been around for decades but never officially got famous until the movies came out

Depends on your definition of famous. He was a very well known character way before the movies. He had series dated back at 1994. While Robert Downey Jr certainly elevated the character it's not like he wasn't well known.

I think that this storyline shows that good heroes are not without weaknesses, they simply have the power to overcome their weaknesses. I think with today's modern depiction of comic book heroes that the staff working on the books are afraid to show heroes failing, but a hero that has flaws can be more endearing to fans. Our weaknesses are as much a part of us as our strengths we just have to find a way to overcome our flaws and enhance our strengths.

I wasn't a regular reader of this in my youth but I did get a few of him being an alcoholic and it was brilliant. The best one had to be with the cop betting him.

Marvel don't care to flesh out the personalities of it's characters like the comics did. Last one who did it imo was sam reimi in the first Spiderman trilogy who really portrayed the struggles of Peter Parker in his non super hero persona. And perhaps a little of hulks struggles with his mutation but that's it .

Remember in the Superman films when Christopher Reeve goes alcoholic? I loved it. Johnny Walker Red, too. I've never seen a Red drinker who wasn't a drunkard. Imagine a Korean Iron Man addicted to soju and whiskey! Red and Blue suit! Before anyone shames me, know that I used to be a drunkard myself. And I'm Asian.

Demon in A Bottle is one of Marvel’s best storyarcs. Seeing Tony give in to alcoholism was a story as great as the 1971 Amazing Spider-Man #s 96-98 anti drug issues which was written by Stan “The Man” Lee at the request of the US Department of Health, Education and Welfare, with the backing of the Senate (and, which pre dates by 2 years DC’s Green Lantern/Green Arrow #85). Demon in A Bottle also shows why Tony Stark is a better character than Bruce Wayne as he was seen having a weakness that can be identified with; when Tony relapsed in Iron Man #s 166-193, the cost was far more severe, with the lost of Stark International and most of his wealth; Batman never went through that- The Joker War only reduced him to a millionaire; even Green Arrow lost far more than Bruce, though it became the catalyst for Oliver Queen to be a social activist in the 1970s.

Your opinion,many will agree and also disagree. But both characters were at time extra douchebags,bordering on fascism,but prince of gotham is way more interesting then the weapons dealer.
@ashwolf20062 жыл бұрын
i wouldn't say batman didn't have a moments of weakness, if i remember there is a story arc, where batman failed to save a kidnapped child from drowning due to not being able to get rid of a large debris separating him and child from drowning. and started taking Venom after that incident to increase his strength unfortunately he started taking more and more as the story progresses to the point he became addicted to it. and when he didn't get his fixed he started lashing out on gordon and even thought about killing him. note the story takes place before Knightfall in where bane is first introduced.

Iron man, Hank Pym , cp America all have very much juice in the comics as characters regarding their personalities but Marvel doesn't care to portray that. Pym for example and his defective brain is sth which he always struggles to cope in the comics and overcome. But for marvel as long as their characters have a sassy line that's enough character development..

Tony drank again as a sacrifice for Odin not because of the watcher also the best outcome of civil war was never cap’s idea the watcher said that if cap actually listened to tony instead of instantly trying to fight him they would’ve come to a compromise

I don't know why Tony Stark came out about being Ironman. I remember back in the day a superheros would go to great lengths to protect their alter ego. Except of course The Fantastic Four and The.Incredible Hulk and The She-Hulk and a few others. Just saying. Have a great day everyone
