This is how I wish it would end: Both Marvel and DC are writing themselves to a corner on purpose. After Knull finally defeats everyone, a portal opens somewhere in the universe, and out comes the Chronicler, mad that another one of the good universes is going to end. This would be the start of the secret crisis, in which the Chronicler hides from his superiors that he is going to secretly save both multiverses by pitting the one who laughs against Knull

I made a joke when Knull first appeared about how much Marvel insisted on him. But compared to The Batman Who Laughs, Knull is downright a breath of fresh air. His personality is pretty Saturday Morning cartoon, but at least he has a personality. And King in Black is big, but it’s fun and it’s not claiming to be the end all and be all for Marvel Comics. Marvel has been on fire with its recent Events. Even X of Swords.

I mean, King in Black is nowhere on the lvl Death Metal is at. I like that they spent SO much time setting it up from Gorr the God Butcher to Silver Surfer Black to the carnage event, all GREAT stories where we learn about Knull in the background of the main setting.

Remember Civil war where you could have the main 7 issues and you'd still have the entire story and everything else was just extra content? I miss that. One of the main turn offs for me is how often we get these huge events with a million tie ins and there's no main line, you have no idea what will happen in which comic

I mean, X of swords had 22 issues and they were pretty transparent about what was and was wasn't part of the event. Aboslute Carnage wasn't too bad, we'll see. Death metal is BY FAR the largest and most convoluted event I've seen since war of realms 😳

I think Marvel is getting better but King in Blacl is like a bad relapse smh HoX, PoX and XoS were all contained to their corner of the X-Men books and had no tie ins. Empyre had a bunch of tie ins for ongoing books but none of them affected the main title.

I think that Cates did a good job making us wait on Knull and getting us hype. Maybe the wait was too long but remember civil war 2 were that inhuman just popped up and civil war 2 started. I appreciate the anticipation of Knull it deff made the first king in black issue way better.

With regards to Death Metal, seeing the "progression" of the story, I honestly already checked out and am just waiting for the conclusion/finale of what is going to come out of it. I'm okay with spoilers so I do watch your videos, Comics Explained and Blerd Without Fear's for story I "monitor". Then I buy them on Comixology when they are on sale. With how Death Metal spun out of to where we are, I really just can't imagine this whole thing was started by BWL who shouldn't even "exist" if the order of the universe was followed. I do honestly think they overplayed BWL. I would have expected a Superman from the Dark Multiverse who planned it all after whatever events transpired in that Dark-world/verse or a Dark Multiverse Spectre. Knull was built up at least but I am also kind of on the fence how to feel about the story. But it is at least not a rethread of previous storylines. I am curious if "The Void" will be revealed as the "mother of symbiotes". Just a thought that crossed my mind. But I am of the mind that Knull will win and BWL or Perpetua will win on DC's side. If not win, then maybe an end where the heroes of both multiverses don't succeed in defeating their villain in the current arcs. And the collapse may lead to the Marvel-DC Crossover first before we move forward. It is just a guess though.

Before I start watching, I do feel like king in black is too much. A lot of what made Spider-Man so relatable was that it was at least somewhat more grounded in reality compared to what’s going on now. I do enjoy these comics nonetheless but it’s a lot more alienating and I no longer see it as a world I could see myself in.

There's always problems with having too many tie-ins is that it creates burnout in trying to keep up. But, they know that these tie ins will sell more issues, especially when they can market it as part of a bigger event. I feel that there has been a power creep in comic books as a whole. These are essentially Crisis level events happening every crossover now and they have to keep one upping themselves each time. The smaller team ups are gone outside of the Spider-man stuff, but he has WAY too many for his own good. The others don't get much. These used to be big events too, but now, the crossovers are all these super sized universe ending threats. Each time, they have to one up one another too and I feel that this is creating more problems. They need to scale things down that focus more on individual characters rather than have these massive everyone is involved type of events.

Just starting the video and yes one of my big problems with Marvel and DC is every time I turn around the multiverse is collapsing. It's the dragon ball effect. You can only threaten the end of all things so many times it's not impressive anymore. No stakes. No body stays dead, universes never last more then 2 years give or take. People don't even develop or lives actual lives anymore. It's just multiversal groundhog day.
