Coming and Going at the CSX Queensgate & Norfolk Southern Gest Street Yards (Sped-Up Version)

This is a video I shot over two days at the yards.
I was hoping to catch a few trains doubling out and leaving the yards but it was not meant to be.
I did see a newly rebuilt Amtrak yard locomotive.
We also catch plenty of yard movements.
There is also a sped up version you can check out.

I love watching yard and switching work. I understand that the initial sort from the hump could be rough and additional sort will be needed to make up a train. It would be nice to see the final makeup of a train on the outlet end of the start to finish.

I love watching trains go by and I actually lived behind a train yard, but never saw how a train yard would work. It amazes me how some of those car’s rolling through the yard without a locomotive helping it

We were there last week. Stopped at NS on Gest and took picture of the old display caboose by yard master tower. Then sat by the fence off Mill Creek by CSX. Lots of fun. Drone shows what you get see on the ground level

Highly recommend the Station Square Sheraton in Pittsburgh. I would stay on the 10th floor facing east, then the concierge lounge faces west. Nonstop NS & CSX.

Thanks for the video, it was well worth the watch. For many years I drove over this yard twice a day and never had a chance to see what really goes on. Always amazed how yards this size function. As far as volume of traffic do you know where Queensgate rates compared to other yards?
