Our Lesbian daughter first came out as Bisexual, then before turning 21 she came out as a true Lesbian. Her mother and I told her that she was and will forever be loved with the same amount of love we had and will forever give her.

It’s not a diseases as some would coin it, they are perfectly normal people. Lets say your sexual orientation is straight so you don’t have to inform anyone you are straight that’s what expected of you as per societal norms. I would say if you can’t understand them in general, try putting yourself in their shoes. I know it’s not the same as they are the ones facing all these things but you can get an understanding and empathy maybe

Two years (5th Dec 2018) ago, I met my lifepartner on KZbin, and got married on 20th April 2019. Our family doesn't support us but also we used to meet once in a year. I'm a closeted lesbian and it's really hard to come out especially to my parents cuz they're openly homophobic once my sister (she knows I'm gay) asked my mom what would she do if we were lesbians and she said really homophobic stuff and said that it's wrong and something that "bad kids" do... And my sister (yes again) asked my dad what's gay (way way before when I knew that I liked girls) and my dad makes a really disgusted face and said "no" and several other stuff happened that traumatize me from ever coming out and I think I'll never discuss about this to them... And that trauma also creates interlized homophobia and somewhere deep inside I feel guilt I feel shame I feel bad and that I'm dissapointing my parents by who I am... I beg you if you're a parent be open about LGBT to your kids and anyone to be honest... Remind them that it's okay if girls like girl or boys like boys or whatever sexualities and gender identities there are, so they don't get this trauma or interlized homophobia if they're gay and if they're straight then make them a good human being and not be an assh0le... Edit: sorry for grammar and spelling mistakes I was crying while typing that so I hope you understand and thanks for reading my comment it means a lot actually ♥

So sorry, don't be ashamed though, I was same for 22 years until I realized it will never change. Ok, I like guys too, and even fell in love when I was younger, but will it change liking girls? The more I tried not to think about, the more I was going crazy about it, and even in my dreams I could never control it. So one thing I realized was "if this never changes, it's not my fault, so why feel ashamed about it?". I never came out to my family because I knew they won't understand, because I am also not 100% lesbian, I'm just queer, who is very much attracted to women, but not knowing what will happen next, but for close friends or to the ones I thought are close, I came out: not everyone understood, some stopped to contact with me, some even understood many years later, and the first reaction was a shock, but I'm glad I did it, I felt better after that. And one more thing, try new things, never focus on something, because somebody tells you what's right and what's not. If you feel lesbian but one day you like a guy, doesn't mean you stopped being yourself, and if your lesbian friends don't understand, it's their problem. You are free in both ways, loving girls or boys nobody should control your own life. And if the society does not accept it, change it. I'm glad I changed it and went to other country. It won't work for everyone telling their parents, because some are really different and will never understand. Your goal is not hurting them and being happy after that. Your goal is making yourself happy. If they can't understand, go there where they won't be able to find out the truth. And be happy that at least one family member (sister) accepts you, because in other families you could be completely lonely and unaccepted.

Look, as a parent and grandparent I can't even begin to express the absolute horror I would feel if I found out third hand that my kids or grandchildren felt they could not come to me and tell me absolutely ANYTHING. My fear is never what society would think. It's that someone I love can't be happy and be their true selves. Hey, plenty homophobic parents have changed their tune when it's suddenly close to home and they realise they would be the source of pain and misery for their child. Bite the bullet and go for it. I remember that one day when i was a kid I out of curiosity(At that time I was completely unaware about gay thing ofc or anything related near to it) asked my mum that "Can two boys or even two girls can marry as its always between a boy and a girl?" I can't remember exactly what my mum said, but I am sure that she spoke in favour of it something like: "If they love each other than there is nothing wrong in marrying... " I am straight tho, but that question came out from a curious innocent child who was completely unaware of how cruel and dark this world could be... :')

They had a daughter who died and me being the eldest, they adore me like their own daughter.....they are too attached to me so I feel more scared. And seeing people around you joking on such topics and using gay as a mockery/abusing term just makes me give up lol. But I have decided if ever my younger siblings came out I did support them completely no matter what the cost.

My parents are supportive but not understanding. The way parents love you till you are in class 9 you can say anything to them freely and the way they love you after class 9 is different. They start showing their love and care in a bad way which sometimes traumatizes the child. And parents never understand true love. Even today at least 70% of the parents are still in that same concept that you should marry the guy/girl that we select for you within the same caste, same religion and within the same language. When parents are not ready to accept a marriage of two people of opposite gender just in different language or culture then just forget about this. I just hope upcoming generation parents would be quite understanding...
