All three of your tips hit the nail on the head- especially tip #1. Coming out when you're in a safe space physically and mentally, and I would even say financially sound if you're in high school/college, is the most important thing you can do for yourself. It's an emotional process and people won't always react in the best manor- you need to make sure that you can take care of yourself or have some sort of safety net if things go south. Looking forward to the rest of the week :) Really glad to see a new LGBT colab channel!

I haven't come out yet, but I know that my parents wouldn't accept me. It's just that I kind of experimented with coming out and made the mistake of telling my aunt that I'm lesbian, and it ended with my mom drinking a lot and my dad telling me that I'm just going through a phase. I'm not lesbian, I'm pansexual, but I'm staying in the closet. I'll keep your tips in mind Neil. Love you.

I came out to my sister about 8 years ago now (oh my god, how has it been that long already?!?). I was in 10th grade, so she was in 7th, and I said "I need to tell you something... I think I like girls." And her response was "but you're pretty!!" Yeahhh that was awkward.. Then I came out to my mom really recently, just last April. I said "I have a more-than-friend up at (the college I went to)". She just said "Okayyy?" I was so beyond nervous because I really had no idea how she would react, and it literally took every ounce of strength I had to say "not a guy." I was shaking and I had tears in my eyes and I was trying SO hard not to cry, and she said "as long as you're happy, that's all that matters to me." I couldn't even move, I just stood there shaking and finally she said "do you need a hug?" I nodded and she hugged me and said "I love you no matter what."

Ahhhhh!!!! So proud of you guys for creating a collab channel :) Very glad we have a new daily LGBT channel. This has been a void that's needed to be filled for a while. Pano T ***** Neil McNeil

Love this and I'm so excited for this collab! I've been out for almost 10 years! Nothing changed and my parents constantly told me how proud they were of me. My friends were just as supportive and my life has been peachy ever since. Because of that, I try to help people I know to build that confidence to eventually tell the people that they love about their sexuality as well! :)

I had a really similar experience to you and this made me feel a lot better about waiting for so long. I knew my family would be supportive but it was still very intimidating. I'm glad I waited until I was ready.

Awesome advice. I'd say that Tip3 was the most crucial thing for me, because when I came out I already was surrounded by people who loved and accepted me. But don't make judgements on whether or not someone else is going to accept you. Always give people a chance. :)

Do you use the termed "transgendered" instead of "transgender" intentionally? Isn't it better to to use the later, because the former implies that they used to be cisgender and then changed at some point?

Hey, I'm 15 and I came out just last year. And I totally agree with your three tips, but you should make it known that when you come out it may take sometime for some people to accept you. Like for my parents that I'm living with, my biological dad and step mom, still don't seem like they're ever going to at least be okay about my coming out. So I have a question : what should I do? Stay with them and feel sad at home or go and live with one of my accepting family members?

Im only out on a few social media platforms online... Not really sure if I'll ever be ready to come out to people I actually know, partly because my parents will definitely not be supportive, and partly because of my anxiety...

I didnt really come out. When I realized I was bi I just started talking about girls the same way as I talked about boys I was attracted to. People eventually got it easily. Happened the same with my parents... They sort of knew.

Initially I was called out by my brother but only a few people actually believed him. Subsequent to a fight I had with my uncle (years following my initial "outing") I was outed again during his pissy rant. Yet only a few believed. Since then I've told close friends and close family members about my sexuality. My issue, I live in a society that is a lot less accepting of homosexuals than the United States, generally speaking of course. Could any of you give me advice on how to be the best person I can and truly accept myself? My current mindset is so distorted I don't think I like the gay culture. Yet to escape my harsh environment to view "coming out" stories on KZbin which uplift my spirit. I love our people (gays), of that I'm certain. Yet I don't like what I perceive the gay culture to be. Clearly, I need counselling.

I'm 14 to and I'm bi/pan I'm a mixture of both (Im calling it pie ;) ) and I know my parents will both accept me when they talk to me or all of my siblings they use both genders and they take us to pride every year and we got to a LGBT Shul but telling my parents is still scary and I have pretty bad anxiety and whenever I try to tell them I get a anxiety attack dose anyone have any tips??
@Sasha7N10 жыл бұрын
What do you mean by a mixture of bi and pan? And if you're nervous about telling your parents, there's no harm in waiting. You're still young. Coming out doesn't need to be a race. Just wait until you feel confident enough to tell them.

I identify as a lesbian and I live in small city in Sweden With not more than 5000 people. It's pretty conservative and I'm kinda still in the closet. I actually told My parents a couple of months Ago that I Was gay. My mom Said that i couldn't know when I Was so Young and I haven't found the right Guy yada yada.. I Told My closest friends a couple of weeks before and everyone Was super supportive and happy for me. I Was Really looking forward to come out But My mom Forced me back into the closet saying "you are not going to come out" do Yeah.. My mom is not Very supportive in anything i do. She are kinda mean to me and complains on how I look, What I wear and how "fat" i am (I'm not THAT fat, actually) I feel like My mom Will never accept me..

Big question! If you see someone you like, but they're not gay, what do you do? It's so hard to find a gay guy because a lot of guys are straight..please help /:
@Sasha7N10 жыл бұрын
Just try not to think about them too much honestly. Attractive straight guys are frustrating but you're not gonna be able to change their orientation.
