Damn it, why couldn't I have been born earlier. I was like a year old. At this time. I've always been fascinated by what life and culture was like back in the late 80s and early 90s. This is great footage. It's amazing that the site of of Old Comiskey is now a parking lot. And the Sox actually had pretty good team that year. They just happened to be in a division with the high powered Oakland Athletics.

I was born in 82, just got into sports in the late 80s/early 90s, it was a great era for my earliest sports memories……except when the 49ers crushed the Bears at soldier field in the 1988 NFC Championship game……..

Coming off the 94 on 35st street. Fun fact: Thr first psrk for the Whitesox was South Side Park lll which was built in 1900. Comiskey Park brcame the 2nd ball park for the Whitesox in 1910.

History did mean alot to the south-siders. we didn't have a say so in whether or not they were going to tear her down. Real Sox fans didn't even want a new park. Thanks for this video though. It brings back a lot of good memories for me, A SOUTH SIDER.

You'd have to be born *before* the 80's to have a better memory and fuller experience of the 80's & 90's.

I love watching this video with the greatest baseball stadium of all time, Old Comiskey Park. I've told people this, but if Old Comiskey was still standing today, I would be a die hard soxs fan. I'll say is, if baseball is America's past time, why aren't the old stadiums still standing?

Anyway in later years Comiskey Park was getting rickety due to its age.

Too bad history didn't mean anything to the South Siders. Old Comisky is way better than new Comisky.

@Twom44 I should have clarified my remarks to say, "Too bad history didn't mean anything to the OWNERS of the South Siders." Yeah I understand, it's the fans that get the shaft every time. Ask me about my Minnesota North Stars sometime.

Wow! Foreignor got a lot of play after the Disco shunning. I remember that and lived about 30 miles from Comiskey Park then. Was oblivious, but now I am ashamed to be from the Chicago area. I love the Bee Gees now, and I also liked Foreignor a lot then. By 1987 when their (Bee Gees) "One" single and album came out the radio started playing them again. Money Money Money, the rockers couldn't get air play, so?
