Command and Conquer Rivals is here and it's true, THE LIGHT OF NOD IS NO LONGER WITH US. Instead we have loot boxes and MMR gating ruining what would have otherwise been a solid game and what might have been a worthy edition to the command and conquer franchise by some dedicated devs. But NOPE, EA's gotta follow that moral compass of theirs wherever it goes... which is to this shameful display.

For anyone wondering what the beat way is to get the early C&C games is, download OpenRa. It's one client that hosts all the early Westwood games. It has Tiberium Sun, Dune, and Red Alert, and even Generals I believe. It's free and it has working multi-player with actual people who play.

Well looks like this perfectly showcases everything that is going wrong with EA and their 'game design' (a.k.a whale milker design). It's too bad because I remember always being excited for the new blockbuster EA games, but at some point they just went 'fuck it to intergrity, we're gonna make millions'. Worst thing is the mobile game mindset of microtransactions leaking more and more in to pc gaming, and seeing it happen to big name titles like star wars battlefront, command and conquer, dungeon keeper and on non EA games like assassins creed (which surprise surprise used to have a soul once) or anything modern from Ubisoft anyways. To me personally, it is not an RTS without Base Building. I started with Age of Mythology and Tiberian Sun and I loved it. I sunk my time into Stronghold and Dungeon Keeper 2 and I refuse to call anything a Strategy game that doesn't allow me to figure out how to optimize my base layout, my defense layers and my production lines.

MAN, the game is VERY DIFFERENT NOW. It's very FREE TO PLAY FRIENDLY right now. 6 WEEKS and I have tons of shit. I acquired the Titan in my 3rd day of playing in a free convoy. The amount of "Fuels" you can get is unlimited so infinite lootboxes that you can rush em with crystals if you want. You gain experience and 1 fuel (2 if you win) for just playing the game (it doesn't matter if you lose) and there are events every 1 or 2 weeks.

As you can see in the parts of the video where I look at the patch messages, the studio that makes this game calls themselves Redwood. If you were familiar with your command and conquer, you'd know that Westwood was disbanded in 2003 with the remaining members forming petroglyph while the command and conquer property went over to EA Los Angeles. Redwood is another studio that EA owns that is making this game.

I got into the Early Access and I have since stopped playing. The people that have 6k medals are the people they let in first and they have grinded and grinded for them. However, in a message that was sent out to players in game, and I believe it is on their "Fair Play" announcement, that they weren't going to do a wipe of accounts prior to release. The "Fair Play" is suppose to be designed so that for you "level" of play, units are capped at level 5 or something. Still doesn't help when you have level 1 or 2 units. Also, one thing I pointed out during the Early Access was the the Anti-Tank Infantry, at level 6 were able to decimate Level 5 Riflemen. As for the Titans, I hated fighting them until I got "blessed" by them when I finally got Character level 4, still don't have Zone Troopers, and Nod gets unlocked. And sadly, the Loot boxes gets even more stuff put in. I recently played it again, and in the 3 loot boxes I got, I got nothing for nod, only for GDI, which i don't even want to play. I just want to play Nod. But they locked Nod at level 4. The only nice thing I have to say about Rivals, the controls are responsive. Other than that, everything about this game is crap. I kept asking EA to remove the loot boxes and add in a more fair micro transaction. But sadly, the Mobile Market is so far, the only thing that 2 certain governments haven't created anti-loot box legislation for. And where the backlash for loot boxes are, minimal at best, because "casuals". I hate this game. Question though, what device you playing on? More specifically Google Play or Apple Store? I'm kind of wondering how many downloads iOS has. I have Google Play so I can get rough numbers from there. I'm just wondering how in general, popular this game is. Well on the Google Play 100,000+ downloads, so not very I imagine.

Same experience and same impressions here I assume the google play downloads is not an accurate metric , just like you and me I assume the majority downloaded the game , played perhaps an hour or 2 worth , then uninstalled. I uninstalled the game when I realized that I was winning games while taking a shit.......the actual notion of C&C going from the most epic epic RTS to something I do while take a shit was too much for me to handle so I uninstalled.....I hope Kane forgives me.

And it's not that simple, you don't pay to unlock units, you pay to get the "loot boxes" which give you a chance to unlock said units. You have to be a specific level to be even able to unlock certain units and commanders, and you said it yourself. Also, this footage is from the latest build. One can tell, because in mid-August, they changed the Pitbull's rocket launchers to white and made them larger. This is not from "24 hours after the game has gone live". The players have been playing since June, since the alpha launch, which was during E3 2018. It's still in alpha, mind you, despite it saying "Version 1.0". There has not been a player level, leaderboard & stats reset yet (though they said they didn't want to do one - the community who plays the game religiously has actually asked for a reset and has been very vocal about it - we'll see if they (Redwood) change their minds), which is why some people have such a high amount of medals. FairPlay features haven't been introduce in the game yet, either, which is probably why you're having problems against certain players (and being matched against stronger players), who seemingly have better stuff than you, but I guarantee you they didn't pay to get 'em, as actual money transactions are still locked (I just opened the game now to try it, it says it's still not available). From the video, I can tell you're not using the proper counters consistently. Additionally, I can tell you they will introduce 2v2 and potentially co-op modes, as well as a "capture the flag" mode. The developers are prototyping it currently. Sorry to say this, but I'm having trouble taking a good amount of your points seriously. You contradict yourself, and I get the feeling it's in the name of just bashing the game or making a point about loot boxes. You did bring up SOME good points (IMHO), but you're still biased and incorrect on other points (I know you don't like loot boxes or EA's business model - I'm not a fan either). I'm wondering if you're not just jumping on the hate bandwagon so you can grab more subscribers and views.

Didn't EA say that there wouldn't be loot boxes in the game or something or that it wouldn't be Pay-to-win? Then of course, they get around that promise by saying "It's not loot boxes! You buy gems which give you supply crates! Totally different!" Sort of like Japan and Pachinko Machines because gambling money is not allowed, but buying tokens and exchanging them for "prizes" is.

This feels like a game that I will play for two days and then cast aside because you're facing more and more paying players. Also, there is no base building and stuff, it seems to be just about speed. Be the first to control the nukes and you win. Forget about finding your own strategies and sneaking up on the enemy base and stuff. Just poop out units faster than the enemy and you win. Anyway.. I'm gonna check it out when it's released in Europe, but it looks bad from what I've seen so far.

It looks very different then what it looks like today. Edit: Actually they (in my opinion) fixed most of this, it's technically fairer with challenge battles (where you don't lose any points but add bonus experience when you win). Yeah Its still pay to win, but it's a bit fairer in my opinion.
