There's a nice bit of subtle lore here that ties back into another expansion mission (the one with the Super Tanks). The MAD Tanks here are remote-controlled -- later on, however, we see that a driver is evacuated when a MAD Tank is deployed, indicating that the Soviets decided against remote control for these weapons and went with expendable drivers, instead. That decision was likely either because this mission showed a critical weakness (destroying a control center will render the MAD Tanks useless) they couldn't afford in the field, they were prototypes which were intended to be crewed anyway once pressed into full on production, or that the Soviets rushed them into production and they had to rely on a driver instead of a remote system. Soviet robotics research here also ties back into the Super Tanks seen in another expansion mission -- it's probable that the Allies sabotaging the control center for those tanks, coupled with this mission, pretty put the kibosh on thoughts for more remote controlled or autonomous weapons, heh.

You know you can just crush infantry by holding down [Alt], right? You can even chronoshift chrono tanks straight on top of enemy infantry, though they won't register as "crushed" until you move the tank.

I use Rangers to hunt down dogs. Before I infiltrate the third Intel Centre, I ensure that my Chronoshift is ready and I have a Cruiser. When I infiltrate it, I shift the Cruiser into the waters above the control centre to wreak havoc! Then everything else falls into place.

That's a great strategy. I usually take one look at a map's waterways and make a decision on if I can get anywhere by water but I've never thought to use a chronosphere to get to an unreachable river. In hindsight it should have been obvious since the chronosphere is introduced in a cutscene teleporting a cruiser.

@@SvenVanDerPlank Yeah, this map rewards some aggressive cruiser use. The soviets don't have any naval forces, so you can go right to a cruiser or two on the far left water to hard-lock that entire chunk of the map before chronoshifting it into the lake in back to finish off the core of their base. After that, it's only mopup.
