[Command Modern Operations]: China (Single Type 55) vs. RIMPAC

There has been a ton of talk about deterrence on China with the US led naval drill against China. So let's see how a SINGLE Type 055 destroyer with 64 YJ-21's will fare against a formidable group. Typen 055 carries 112 cells that can be configured in any configuration between anti-air and antiship missiles including the YJ-21.
The game is Command Modern Operations created scenario.
From: www.cpf.navy.m..., the US ships are listed below. This scenario tries to model as best as the game can allow. Two set of trials - first, both sides have satellites and US does not turn on radar, etc. until it detected the attack. Second scenarios, the drones from China side is removed relying ONLY on satellite and US has full ABM radars on.
The results were surprising as one would have thought all the SM3's would be able to knock down the incoming missiles.

Sure, Chinese have the YJ-21 and it is a very capable weapon. It is difficult but not impossible for the US and allies to intercept it. However, I seriously doubt that there would be 64 YJ-21s carried aboard a single Type 055 destroyer for a few reasons. 1) The Type 055 only has 112 VLS cells leaving only 48 cells for SAMs, cruise missiles, and anti submarine missiles if 64 YJ-21s were brought aboard. 2) All ballistic and hypersonic missiles are extremely expensive and take longer to procure than other weapon types. 3) Due to aforementioned cost and procurement issues, loading 64 YJ-21s onto one ship leaves few to no YJ-21s for other Chinese vessels. I don’t question this scenario’s accuracy nor the weapon’s performance, but maybe try running the scenario with approximately 20 YJ-21s.

@@papatango2362 but China has 12 Type 55 now. Still doesnt change the scenario that two can destroy it if it has 32 each.

@@fubolibs4218I am not even sure there are 64 operational warheads yet. I would have guessed maybe 35-45. But who knows for certain can definitely not speak about it publicly 😂 Hey still a good video.

@@papatango2362 They are designed to be mass produced. These aren't expensive like DF21s. In fact they have a Type 52D variant now that can carry it and they are thinking exports with limited range. Lol. The 55 is an offensive ship. They have plenty of 52Ds for anti air and in fact when they deploy type 55 it is always supported by 52s.
