Shifting Shadow worked out great for me when I had Marchesa, Galecaster Colossus and Vindictive Lich out on release night. Getting Dethrone counters on my dudes = I could clear the opponent's board with Galecaster and zap opponents with Vindictive Lich, both of whom would just come right back and trigger again. Sick.

Mairsil the Pretender is probably my most anticipated commander coming out of C17, all the janky thinks you can do with him really appeals to me. Who doesn't want to play a Mairsil, exile a vehicle, and have like a squirrel crew him?

Hey Seth, I came across a sweet combo with Izzet Chemister on the Lab Maniacs channel. Buried Alive Phyrexian Devourer, Necrotic Ooze, and the Chemister. Reanimated Ooze, use it to exile your library, then From the Brink Anger into your graveyard to give Ooze haste, sac him to use Chemisters last ability to cast your library. It's quite a few cards, pretty janky, but I thought very unique.

We played a few games out of the box. This decks wincon was great. Have more dragons than the dragon deck. Use ur opponents boardwipes to kill the board and reanimate all those sweet dragons using Havengul Lich and Puppeteer Clique. Was a blast.

Love Inalla. My playgroup in contemplating getting all precons for playing, and I think Arcane wizardry will be mine. I feel like it lacks more good etb wizards though... Like Venser. That would be sick.

You can also copy the "storm trigger" of Magus of the mind using stuff like rings of briarheart or illusionist's bracers.

Izzet Chemister seems like a good target for Mairsil specifically because it says you can cast cards exiled with it without paying their mana costs, not specifically instants or sorceries. So, you could exile a few things with Mairsil, then sacrifice him using the chemister's ability to replay every card you exiled for his abilities. Yes, you will reset him as far as activated abilities go, but you will also have a board full of toys, which will be handy after a wrath effect.

How do you figure? It's a self-referencing clause, so Mairsil would obtain "1R T, Sacrifice Mairsil the Pretender: Cast any number of cards exiled with Mairsil the Pretender without paying their mana costs." And, Mairsil exiles a creature or artifact from your hand as an ETB ability to gain the abilities of those permanents meaning you've exiled several items including Izzet Chemister with him. If you cast all cards exiled with Mairsil without paying their mana costs, that would be every card in exile with a cage counter on it.

Izzet chemister's banished cards only count towards the cards banished with the izzet chemister's first effect while that instance of izzet chemister is on the field. When it leaves the field it severs the link with whatever it currently has under it

Very quirky I agree.. Had a havengul loch out and cast the Magus.. Let them kill a creature on their upkeep.. Blocked with him and let him die so I didn't have to! Then recast him from the graveyard on my next turn and did it all over again! Ended up winning when I was down 12 to 41! Clutch!

I will say if you want to play this out the box Marchesa is a much better commander. I know this deck tech is about the new cards in the set, but how many of those cards synergies better with Marchesa? Mairsil, the pretender; bloodline necromancer; vindictive lich; and especially shifting shadows. once you have a +1/+1 counter on any of these creatures opponents need to get rid of Marchesa first or else get hit or give you more value since they will come back if they are killed.

Shifting Shadow doesn't work like you think it does with indestructible because you have to attach it to the new creature. It'll only work once unless the new creature also had indestructible.

John Rodriguez well that's why he used Avacyn as the example , it gives blanket indestructible. He also later said it's best with mass indestructible

it is basically the splinter twin combo. you play the blood line and copy then before the etb you sack the real card and the copy gets it back and you do this over and over. just use a sack outlet that makes mana

I might be missing something, but how exactly do you go infinite with Wanderwine Prophets? You deal damage and sacrifice the token, get the original back, which you either copy again or sacrifice for good. You've got your extra turn, but there's only one combat phase and the token is exiled at the end, so what then?

Sac the copy after damage, WP comes in, make a copy of it with Inalla, champion WP to the copy. At end of turn lose the copy, original comes back in play, ETBs go off, you put WP on stack first with Inalla's on top, make the copy, the copy champions your WP. Since it's past the beginning of the end step you do not have to exile the token copy. Take your next turn, repeat the whole process. Edited for corrections.

Inalla's tokens exile themselves, not sacrifice. You don't get a death trigger unless you have another way to sac it.

I don't think the Wanderwine Prophet combo works how you think it does. Yeah, you can champion the nontoken and then sac the token for an extra turn, but if you copy the original when it comes back, you've already attacked and can't get another extra turn. That said, it's not difficult to find effects that bounce or flicker the Prophet on each of your turns, it just doesn't combo by itself.

Thinking about it more, you can recopy during your damage step, then when the token leaves at EOT, recopy again, then attack on your next turn.

You keep Championing with more tokens. When you sac the token to take an extra turn, the original re-enters and triggers Inalla, letting you make another token copy. You have to do this again on end step when the token exiles itself, but this token will last until the end step of the next turn since "Beginning of End Step" triggers are already done, allowing you to start the turn with a Wanderwine prophet that can attack and take an extra turn. On the turn it comes down, you need to copy it three times (once when the original enters, once to hide the original away between combat and end step, and once on end step to carry it over to the next turn). After that, you need to only copy it twice (the latter two of the times mentioned before).

Nicholas Walsh I'm pretty sure it is easy. There's no doubt in that but when you sac the copy to get the extra turn the next copy that is made has to be sacrificed at the end of the turn so you would have to pay again to make another token that lives through the end step trigger.

It's not that simple, you need multiple merfolks to sac. By itself it's 2 additional turns. You have to sacrifice when it deals combat damage. Not whenever you want.

It's a 1-card combo, but it requires 9 mana to initiate. 1. Cast Wanderwine Prophets and copy it 2. Champion the non-token with the token 3. Hit with the token, sac it for extra turn, original comes back 4. Copy the original, champion the non-token again 5. End of turn, sac the token, original comes back 6. Copy the original, champion it with the token On your extra turn, return to step 3. That said, the fact that it requires 9 mana and the ability to connect with the prophets makes it maybe not the most broken thing to be spending over $10 on a card for (now that the price spiked insanely due to buyouts). If you don't have an empty path, you'll need something like Cyclonic Rift or Evacuation at your opponent's EoT to get through. Another option would be something like Whispersilk Cloak or Thassa, which ups the required mana to start the combo to 11.
