Cadets Canada / Cadets du Canada

3 жыл бұрын

As the Commander of Cadets and Junior Canadian Rangers, I had the privilege to observe the passion that drives every member of the Cadet Program. It’s this passion that gave you all the resilience, tenacity, and agility needed to face the new challenges posed by the pandemic. For this, I want to congratulate you all.
Recently, I was unexpectedly asked to leave my command at CJCR to be the Commandant of the Royal Military College in Kingston. Life is full of surprises and as a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, and a leader, it’s my duty to adapt and serve in whatever manner I am asked to. As I always have throughout my career, I will continue to be a champion for the Cadet Program, and I am certain I will cross paths with many youth in my new position who also had their start right where you are today.
It’s far from the first surprise I’ve had in my career. I mean - if you had told PO2 Kurtz at the age of 17 that I would one day be a Commodore, I probably would have laughed. But the tenets of the Cadet Program are the foundation that brings value to any and all walks of life. Being a leader in your community may look different for all of you. But the best part of being a cadet is that essentially YOU get to choose your own path and your own adventure.
Mine brought me to the Royal Canadian Navy - and I look forward to hearing where yours takes you.
