This deck tech focuses a lot on the win-more side of this commander. I’ll explain: For all this shenanigans you first need 1. many creatures 2. reach the attack step with those creatures You are not in red which makes haste less plausible You have white but not green, so you’re on only 1 of the best token create colors You can’t start an engine without the fuel. Is the mindset you want with cards like this.

I think you might be too caught up on the counters.. it's all about the looting this is a very strong reanimator commander deck when built right. Small evasive creatures to trigger the looting, discard large cmc creatures, draw Into cheap reanimator spells, and ignore the counters

That's what makes this deck interesting. It's combat strategy outside of green/red. My tip, just focus on 1 thing, whether it's going wide, reanimator, discard or counters.

I think I found the Esper Spirit Tribal Commander I've been looking for, It may not be a spirit but it looks like it will do the trick + its always fun to have a excuse to throw Archfiend of Ifnir in a deck

could see this working well as a staxy commander - stick cards that hose other players draws and tutors like aven mindcensor and narset parter of veils whilst you dig deep into your deck and get wincons or combo pieces to close out the game - stick low mana value evasive creatures in there to amplify your draw and even a couple of voltron pieces to possibly wipe people off the face of the earth with commander damage three mana is pretty crazy for such a good ability AND two keywords

this deck is going to be my flying tribal deck, with a mass reanimator subtheme. play lots of small fliers and start churning through my deck for the BEST mass reanimator spells to bring back entire armies

Okay I waited till the end of the video and not once was "Library of Leng" mentioned. It's a super cheap max hand size card that let's you discard to the top of your library instead of your graveyard. Try it out.

I think she would need a build very similar to Varina. I've attempted Varina a couple times and you're limited by your hand size, if you start combat with 2 cards, that's all you get to keep. Extra card draw is ESSENTIAL.

Card draw, or cards that return creatures from graveyard to hand. Anything that maintains or increases hand size before Varina'a - or Raffine's - attack trigger. Oh man, we have a non-tribal Varina now, this is great!

Exactly my thinking. I have a Varina zombie tribal deck that functions very similar to how I imagine a Raffine deck would. Trying to decide if Raffine is actually better than Varina, though... you get the +1/+1 counters and flying, but no ability for extra zombie tokens, which are often getting doubled and give you attackers for her essentially connive ability. Decisions...

Watching this far after the bat as im actively working on this deck and playing and tweaking as i go and madness was one i was surprised so few people mention, granted im a huge fan of the ability so i add it wherever it fits, but they function very well in the deck.

I feel like this could also lead to milling yourself out so I think one should also consider Laboratory Manic for a win con and/or spell to put your graveyard back into your library as a precaution

I'd run echo of eons over lab(the fish or the jace) since they are either really costly or dead cards in the deck. I think the plan is already going very badly if you are at the point where you milled yourself twice and didn't win. I also personally try to do other win-cons in blue decks, especially if they are ment for a more casual environment, it stops feeling rewarding and gets repetitive / too easy.

Man... I love those incarnations from Judgment. Maybe add some threshold and flashback cards as well? I think Bone Miser would be fun in this deck too. A Black and 4 colorless for a 4/4 creature. "Whenever you discard a creature card, create a 2/2 black Zombie creature token. Whenever you discard a land card, add BlackBlack. Whenever you discard a noncreature, nonland card, draw a card."

I think that a low CMC artifact focused deck could be very good. Use the same philosophy of Yuriko: just hit as soon as possible, pump that inoffensive creatures, cycle through your deck searching for combo pieces like mirrodin besieged, Rebecca, Thassa's Oracle, lab maniac and what not...

Yenett cryptic soveriegn gains another low cost sphinx to play with, connive with, you can stack your triggers either way to go through cards you may not need, or to resolve yenett for big value before conniving with her to make yenett bigger and get a different selection of cards to set up your next big play with yenett next turn

Soo...pick an unblockable creature in blue and a horde of B/W weenies to attack with Raffine while The Ozolith is in play. Draw, discard, counters go on the unblockable creature. Creature dies, counters go to The Ozolith. Rinse. Repeat.

Ok Raffine is finally actually good. Unlike Jetmir, Nexus of Revels. I wouldn't even use Jetmir as a hardback to put a printed proxy over it is so bad. Anyway Raffine is good, I like it a lot. I can see myself choosing Raffine over Malcolm + Tymna. Raffine both enables great reanimator startegies, especially with abusing Dread Return as well as being an inbuilt synergy with Doomsday to setup an Thoracle win. And a sweet extra spice is that you can go for a beatdown back up plan with constantly pumping your fliers like Aven Mindcenspr, Archon of Emaria or Serra's Ascendant. I am really looking forward to brew and play with Raffine.

The issue with using Tomorrow is that it slows down the game way too much because with every draw trigger you gotta look at the top 3, pick, and place. It can help you not deck out which is always a nice thing particularly if you draw a massive amount of cards but you gotta be smart about it or at least speed things up a little.

How about Teferi´s Tutelage letting an Opponent mill two cards for every single card drawn sounds pretty good especialy with Teferi´s Ageless insight Or use Syr Konrad the Grim to a lot of damage by discarding creatures

Yeah, but if you put Raffine in the big seat and Varina in the 99, and use zombies anyway, then you have a Varina that can also pile +1/+1 counters on creatures, and build around that as well.

No, because Tomorrow only alters how you draw the cards. It does nothing to the discard portion of the effect. You will still have to discard to the Conniving ability after you have selected all of your draws.

You still get the counters. Library of Leng just changes where they get discarded too, but they are still discarded. It only prevents things that specifically require cards to be put into your graveyard.

It doesn't have haste so waiting a whole turn to get it to swing is pretty tricky as someone will have a removal for it. getting bonus draw may not be the way to go, instead, Maybe demon tribal would work as it is a demon, or zombie even? running a lot of exile and destruction would buy time for swings. Sickening dreams.

The trigger is when you attack, not when it attacks. You cast it and attack with your other creatures and immediatly connive.

Yes, only because it doesn't lock you into the zombie tribe and it creates counters which Varina doesn't do.

@@dragonheart5349 Tribal refers to Creature type support. So a card that gives Vampires +1/+1 would be a Vampire "Tribal" Card. or Cards that give buffs to Warriors would be a Warrior tribal card.

@@dragonheart5349 Tribal refers to making the creatures in your deck reflect atleast 1 creature type your commander has. So Varina is a zombie wizard and typically is built with a zombie(tribe) theme because her ability triggers off of attacking zombies. This commaner is open ended for its ability to trigger but this commander is a sphinx demon and could lead a sphinx and/or demon tribal deck for that extra flavor. Hope this helps!
