I've rebuilt this precon to focus on the Backup mechanic and one of the key pieces that I added but wasn't in your video was "Angrus Kos, Eternal Soldier." Sure, it's a bit of a mana sink since you have to pay 1R or 1W off his trigger on top of the competitive 4mv slots, but being able to copy a backup ability onto every creature on your side of the field has been game changing for me. Edit - Didn't mean for this to sound like a "your upgrade is wrong" statement, just wanted to throw in a card that I think has a lot of value for the mechanic!

also Bramble sovereign 1G for a copy of the creature coming down with the back up is pretty good! and well the recon does come with strionic resonator

I’ve seen so many upgrade guides take the easy path of Shalai and Halar. Thank you so much for sticking to your guns with the backup mechanic. I actually almost went the flicker route for my upgrades, but seeing how many options there are for duplicating your own creatures in this deck made me realize how much more consistent this path could be for up-sizing your bodies. Thanks to the (as of now) recently released fallout set, branching evolution now has a cheap printing that this deck would love to include. Even though it doesn’t double tokens (like doubling season), the increased counter generation may make it a nice include if you can’t break the bank. I’ve also thought it would be funny to include fiery emancipation as a sidegrade to uncivil unrest (while obviously running both). This deck can get indescribably big, so being able to threaten lethal with any *one* of your creatures is interesting to me, if a bit mana inefficient. Evolution sage also makes for a nice addition, proloferating on landfall.

Helm of the Host might be worth considering whenever it comes to churning out tokens. Even better, they're non-legendary, so our Commander or our other legendaries can start racking up value with multiple triggers as the token army grows...

I admire the restraint in not making Shalai and Hallar. I was hoping they would take center stage though 😂

there'll be a dedicated brew coming soon

vorinclex and elesh Norn mother of machines in breaking the bank, elesh doubles the backups and the counters that are put on creatures that enter with a set amount of counters like the hydras! also I really love sword of truth and justice that adds a counter to target creature and then proliferate seems quite nice to me, and also something I am a bit more reserved on but could be very good is Sword of hearth and home as a ramp piece and a source of extra back up, but it makes you lose the counters on the creature you are blinking, and also the timing is not ideal since its after combat damage so maybe you are not taking full advantage of the back up.

This is my 4th video upgrading this precon, and always interesting seeing the directions people take this deck in.

It's like my 4th or 5th video on this precon, definitely my favorite route, they are both such versatile commanders and even if I want to build Shalai and Hallar I am now wondering if I should do BrightPalm but even for Shalai and Hallar I'd be taking most of his suggestions that to me so far are the best! (Especially when it comes to what to remove from the deck)

I just got the deck and, despite S+H being the menace it is, BP just cathces my love so much more lol When you think about it, you can generally use the same cards/deck with either BP or S+H as the commander

i now have a place for that vorinclex monstrous raider and ozolith ive put on the side for ages😅

Felidar Retreat is so amazing that could easily be a staple in every white deck, even it is not counter based.

Bess, nourisher of souls could be a good add as well as citadel siege.

i LOVE THE BACKUP ! ...but Shalai and Hallar as a commander here is what i went for. and put a ton of extra +1 counters on the deck. again, love the backup mechanic, but Shalai and Hallar ... is way to strong and fun as well. just pokeing the enemy again and again, and then just killin them with huge monsters and backup dudes

you should check out my shalai and hallar video!

This is the precon I’ve picked up from this set so I’ve been waiting for this video! Kodama of the West Tree seems a great include - mass trample for your modified creatures and land ramp in combat damage in one neat package. It’s so good I’ve picked one up already as part of my raft of upgrades.
@CommanderMechanic Жыл бұрын
Yes for sure! Kodama barely missed the cut for recommendations largely due to the lower number of basic lands in the default list, but if you were to replace some of the bad non basics with basics it's an excellent addition

Harmonic prodigy would be a great add, it's the best card in my version, also wolfgar is pretty solid

Mirror shield hoplite even better...

I bought the whole thing and just took the pieces I like for my Marath naya deck hahaha.

Hey newbie question with mirror-style master would they make the legendary creature sacrifice themselves since its creating a copy of it and due to legendary rule apply?
@CommanderMechanic Жыл бұрын
that's right, unless something removes the legendary property you have to sacrifice same-named legends to state-based effects. Sometimes this is a GOOD THING because you get their enters the battlefield triggers still, or you want them to die!

If you would do High powered S&H deck i would really appreciate it... :) no pressure

Shalai and hallar can also go infinite with curse of stalked Prey
@CommanderMechanicАй бұрын
it does not! Curse of Stalked Prey is combat damage ONLY - the damage trigger from the counter wouldn't add another counter

No love for mirror march? Granted at six mana it needs to be close to a topper and the group should not let it survive. Also your ramp package should be the bestest creature ramps. Like orinthopter of paradise and for this deck incubation druid.
@CommanderMechanic Жыл бұрын
Mirror March is inconsistent, so I'm never keep to recommend it.
@CommanderMechanic Жыл бұрын
Incubation Druid is in the list by default.
@09419 Жыл бұрын
@@CommanderMechanic huh I should remember to check the original list not just my notes on the deck lol. Wizards has definitely improved what they include though.
@09419 Жыл бұрын
@@CommanderMechanic I can't disagree. It is inconsistent, but those times where I get even a second copy of the best backup triggers is enough almost.
