I watched 'Commando' (1994), about times before joining, 638 Troop. I was 700 Troop initially. Short lived, due to injury. Rejoined 740 Troop. Gym phys 'IMF' so hard when you're in it, easy when your on to bottom field. Surprised to hear you say you did 32 weeks a before it was 30. was 32 when I did it in 98' interested to know the 30 week version. When I was in, FX1 and 2 preceded Final X and CDO Tests, Hunter transitioned from 'Troop' to 'Company' while I was in it. *I had ML's and a Troop boss in 700, who was training for SC :-). One thing for you Royal, 'Former' not 'Ex', Ex is dead ;-). Per Mare Per Terram, OARMARM! (Bottom Field, I fell from the top of 30' foot ropes! fkin Harry Shiters!). Chambers, WAZ! Dunkers, essence! Paras were in before us, was great :-D, Nades, was a fkin sniper kept blowing the targets out of the range ;'-). You're 'Dits' bring back so many memories, maybe see ya on 'Sandstorm' some day Royal, hoofin effort ;-)

I’m thinking of joining the military but I’m not sure what to join. I’m only 15 so I have a lot of time to think about it. I want to go to university before I join just so I have a backup option in life. I’m 6’4 so I’m pretty tall idk if this is good or bad for the military. But there’s like 4 different roles I’m thinking about choosing, Royal Marines, basic infantry, paratroopers or a medic. Have you got any advice on what to do?
@StallionBen833 жыл бұрын
Do as much research as humanly possible and try to talk to as many individuals who have experience in these services. Medic is a great route especially later on in life if you’re that way inclined. I know a lot of guys who have moved into paramedic. Such an amazing and rewarding topic, me personally I find the human body incredible everytime I renew a first aid course. If you’re after action then Marines or Paras all the way, there are distinct differences between the two I might add. Your height shouldn’t restrict you in anyway so don’t let that phase you but great option to first go to uni. A backup plan is always the smart way to go, but there are options to pick up transferable skills within the military to later use in civilian life after your service.

You said you were unfit when you joined. What areas did u struggle with fitness wise ?
@StallionBen83 Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment, so personally I struggled with the runs (speed and distance) and yomping (I practically didn’t do any). I made a little video of how to train/prepare, my little tips relevant to training so feel free to check it out. kzbin.info/www/bejne/npXMfWOofMyYm5Y

@@StallionBen83 what kind of running speeds were they expecting and the distance? 7 minute miles?
@StallionBen83 Жыл бұрын
@@dyabmohideen3764 if you can aim for sub 8 mins for a mile and a half (2400metres) then that’s a good indicator. Most runs will be done together as a whole so stay with the group and conserve your energy. The 3 miler on my PRMC was the fastest 3 mile run of my life. Ideally you wanna be in 6-8 minute mile bracket. Then try your best to keep that pace at 3,4,5,6 milers. Hope that helps.
