My nose is runnin, and my eye are watery. Ray Wise is great and the whole thing gets me in the gut.

This is so well acted!!! I generally find the text rather disturbing based on how he gaslights Kate. The way they portray it here they do quarrel and he does not treat her right, but in the end she seems to be able to find the humor in the absurdity of his requests. And they do seem to be quite attracted to eachother. I know it was a different time, but Purtrucio’s speach on how to tame her is honestly terrifying. This actor did well making him likeable and seeming to truly care for Kate.

Thanks for watching Marissa and glad you liked it. I tend to think we can look at the universal elements of a work like this and see it in a context that allows for our current sensibilities but doesn't dismiss it out of hand. I've seen productions of Shrew that never move Petruchio beyond his cynical, manipulative state, or never bring Kate through any sort of transformation. One thing I love about this one is how the couple arrives at real love and mutual respect. No marriage - of whatever kind - can get to a good place without going through difficulty, and no one person in a marriage is all saint or devil. Be Well! -=|Craig|=-

The actor did a great "slow burn" take, didn't he? :)

The current production of Midsummer Night's Dream that Marc directed and is performing in at the Group Rep Theatre in North Hollywood, is also very physical and whimsical. It's playing til 12/31/17. Worth seeing! Marc as Oberon.
