I'm literally just echoing the sentiments of all the other comments on this video, but this is so incredibly well done! It goes without saying that you're very knowledgable about the game, and you devoted a huge amount of time in producing such an entertaining TAS. But putting in commentary that not only provides in-depth explanations of the content, yet also does so in ways that are incredibly easy to understand without pausing the TAS or otherwise ruining the pacing of the run is an incredible challenge, and you more than rose to the occasion. Not to mention you're a genuinely funny dude. (Adding this parenthetical here cuz I read some other comments after I posted: I personally was also a fan of the "dead moments" in the vid where there was no commentary. If there's nothing to say, I don't think you need to fill it up with jokes or information that's only tangentially related. Obviously you're free to do whatever feels more natural to you, I just want to say that you shouldn't feel pressured to do so. People are watching for both the TAS and your commentary so imo there's no need for your commentary to be forced. Anyway...) I love stumbling across unexpected diamonds like this vid, because I hop in thinking I'll see what's up for a few minutes, and an hour and a half later, I'm crying because it's almost over. I don't know what inspired you to make this commentated TAS, but I genuinely hope its success inspires you to do more, because you absolutely deserve all the attention this video is getting!

I would somewhat disagree with calling the Copy copy ability completely useless, it allows Kirby to copy abiliites from mini bosses before defeating them, also allows you to copy the Crash ability from Scarfy, an enemy that cannot be inhaled. Also when the Copy ability is turned into a friend, its the only way for the second player to discard an ability and switch to another one without Kirby having to replace it himself, or the partner dying.
@SampleChample3 жыл бұрын
Oh dang I didn't know about the scarfy thing that's pretty neat. Also, your point is really valid and I would've gone more in depth in the video if copy wasn't so short lived. The miniboss thing is actually used in IGT speedruns for the true arena which is something I neglected to mention. I'll also concede that if it were possible to TAS with multiple players (which I don't think is the case with this game since DS multiplayer is wack) then copy could be a pretty big deal in certain areas.
@nicocchi3 жыл бұрын
I think TAC, the Copy helper, also has some pretty nutsy damage output in Helper to Hero. He can't copy in that mode but the damage is much higher to compensate. Probably not going to be super relevant for TAS but since you mentioned some casual use of copying Scarfy or multiplayer, figured I'd throw that into the ring

I got recommended this video randomly and, despite never playing this game, i found it really easy to follow the TAS because of your explanations. Great work! This was really entertaining!

This is the game of my childhood, and you have no idea how glad I am that I found this gem! This is a great TAS and your insightful commentary made it all the more enjoyable and interesting (you're knowledgeable, funny and have a good diction). I can't wait to see what other projects you have in store for the future! Liked and subscribed ;)

Amazing TAS! This really brought me waaay back playing Super Star Ultra casually. It's such a fun game, and this was a crazy TAS showing all sorts of cool tech. Well done, and good luck in your future projects!

All the TAS movement stuff is all understandable and super incredible to watch. Watching this from as a person, who plays kirby since they were little is like memory lane to me qwq

Really cool tas. Loved finding a commentated version I think Tas's are measured from startup to final input. The tas for DKC takes advantage of this by doing the last hit on K. Rool after final input using a damage boost. Also, they can be measured by frames and by time. Sometimes re-records for those who want to know about how much work went into it.

Yeah, the time of a TAS is basically just the length of the input file: from power on to final input.

Honestly, I love TAS commentaries/explanations as they break down speed techs used in games, and just seeing one of the many Kirby games I've played when I was younger getting absolutely wrecked by the power of precision and speed with a proper explanation makes it all the more better!

Geez did this take me back. I remember playing this game in middle school and it's so cool to see a TAS, much moreso with commentary on it. And those icons signaling Kirby's status like "DONE FOR..." hecking spooked me.
