Better luck next time, Syd I'll bet you know how to plug your tires now, though (not trying to bag on you; trying to turn a negative into a positive- I do that, too). I enjoyed the format for this kind of race. I'm guessing that it might be difficult to do every time so maybe keeping it for the special ones or the truly memorable ones?? You’re a MANIAC Macky. Absolutely incredible. Also, I’ve heard about the breathing in through the nose out through the mouth, but no one really explained why. So, why again?

It has something to do with dilating your blood vessels which should increase oxygen flow and make going hard feel easier. Don't totally understand it either, but Mike recommended it and it seems to work...

Honestly I was a bit disappointed with the last vid - I had hoped for a bit more race footage. This video totally made up for it. Riding the rollercoaster on board with Macky is a treat - although he for sure wasn't coasting. Maybe it's the camera angle, I found it hard to even see where the trail was going on the upper parts and on the narrow offcamber side hill trail I for sure wouldn't dare to go half as fast. Great race, great commentary, great format. More please.

Great POV with some really fun nail-biter moments! What tires did you run? On my 130/140 Stumpy I’ve got a Purgatory in back and Buthcher up front right now. They seem right for the DH but maybe overkill for the XC the day before? They were tough enough for all the SoCal riding I did but man that XC race and all the pedaling is not joke! Thoughts? Thanks!
@sydandmacky Жыл бұрын
Depends on your goals. Probably overkill for the XC, but if your goal is fun and not worrying about flatting, then totally worth it! If the goal is more snow results, probably worth experimenting with something lighter. We're leaning towards Rekon Races in the 60tpi (stronger) casing.
@jeremiahis Жыл бұрын
@@sydandmacky Thanks for the reply! Are you running that in the back only or front too? I get a little anxious about giving up too much traction for the front. My wheelset (Bontrager Line Pro 30 TLR) certainly aren't the lightest at 1760g but they can take a bashing. Do you think with those wheels, even with light tires, I might as well just go toward the 'have fun' route and run heavier tires?
@sydandmacky Жыл бұрын
Yeah, we plan to run Rekon Races front and rear but we're pretty used to them and have used them at a variety of XC races. Once again, depends on your goals, but maybe a Rekon (not race) in the front for a bit more traction would be a good solution.
@jeremiahis Жыл бұрын
@@sydandmacky I see the speeds you're going in this video and can't imagine a lightweight race tire! I can usually get away with lighter sidewall tires more than my friends but dang. I'll give it some thought. Thanks for insight!

Hey guys I’m doing my first ever race in two weeks. Any tips on how to prepare. It’s an Xc style race in mostly flat terrain.
@sydandmacky5 жыл бұрын
We have an XC race playlist on our channel homepage so you should definitely check that out for more details. But since you are so close to the race, the best thing you can do is pre-ride the course, make a nutrition plan (like, where you will be able to eat and drink) and make sure your equipment is dialed and ready to go! Good luck and let us know how it goes!
