Beyond the Blastdoor

Beyond the Blastdoor

4 жыл бұрын

This video was originally taken for a small group at the time debating nuclear war in relation to measures to protect against it, mainly Civil Defense.
As I just so happen to run a pretty formidable bunker that had a CD role, Richard Hill (the narrator/cameraman) and I took the opportunity for showcasing the ventilation and air filtration system with not the most serious attitude.
I think it turned out to be a fun little piece to show, don't take anything that's said for face value since my British friend likes to joke around ;)
The bunker shown is called Warnamt II, I'm the chairman of the association operating it: www.warnamt.de

Holy cow, almost 500 subs now and a viewcount that surpassed my expectations - don't worry, I'm still alive and active on the bunker project, I just can't find the time to produce videos that are up to my standards atm. I made up my mind on how to start a video series on Cold War bunkers and how to do an introduction to it all recently though, there will be more to come this year :)

There's such a cursed energy to this video with the borderline silent dude demonstrating all while in PPEs ... I love it

@@88HEATHENWOLF you are correct! There were 6 in total, not all rooms would've been ventilated in that case.

@@BeyondtheBlastdoor yeah I've seen them over here (UK) in ROTOR bunkers but never on that scale, like I said in my comment before the restoration job you've done on it is lovely.

So in “the situation” that air filtration room would then be off limits. The simple design ensures no need for maintenance. Maintaining air filtration in such a situation potentially would mean death for all inhabitants, thus it had to be as simple as possible.

This was indeed an interesting peek into the working mechanics of a Emergency (Nuclear or otherwise)Shelter. but it doesn't really address the question upon which this presentation was supposed to be based.

You are completely correct - the title stands in correlation to the mentioned discussion on facebook and doesn't really make sense without the context of that discussion - I plan to clear things up in the videos to come!

Is a nuclear war survivable? Yes, but not for humans.

Depends heavily on the level of escalation - if we are talking 'ICBMs leaving their silos' you are absolutely correct, for tactical uses it can have many implications ranging from very limited numbers of warheads used to a devastated central Europe. Also it was asked in context to the Cold War ;)
