What a gorgeous, fantastic episode. Paxton's plot line brought a tear to my eyes. I knew what was going to happen as soon as we saw that Sheldon wasn't eating, and I held out hope, but I knew this series had the courage to go there, and you brought it around by having Donald, so initially dismissive and even hostile to Paxton's situation, be the one to comfort Paxton in his time of need with his own stories of having Dilly, was just a beautiful touch. I teared up, man. And the secondary plot line, about engines being rebuilt, and feeling "hollowed out"??? I remember you explaining this plotline to me on one of our long car rides together years ago, and it's super exciting to see this coming to life now! I'm excited to see where you take this storyline next! A fantastic piece of work, man! Merry Christmas and Happy Boxing Day!

You did such a wonderful job on this Matt! You brought out every side of you through this episode. Your creative side, your funny side, your pet owner side, and your caring side, all of which mixed together and put into a preheated oven at 350 degrees make a beautiful Enterprising cake that was simply delicious. Paxton had a beautiful experience with Sheldon which built a friendship with Donald, and I'm super intrigued about Thomas' case! Stupendous work I must say, and I know somehow you'll find a way to top this but for now, stop and smell the roses and enjoy the work you've given to our peeps. As a new pet owner of my dog Ella, who I've had for 4 years now, we've certainly gotten used to her and her antics, and she to us. I love seeing her run around, and I love when she lays next to me on the couch. My brother convinced our parents to get a dog, he found out about a dog from a friend and we got her at 4 months old in December, the same year my grandmother passed away in the summer. To say she came into our lives at the perfect time would be an understatement. My grandmother was there for all of us and when she left us, our house was bleak. We barely kept the lights, we hardly watched shows together, and school was a bigger drag than ever. I wouldn't say Ella replaced my grandmother, or that she is my grandmother reincarnated (though it would be funny to imagine), but I think my grandmother blessed us with her because no matter what, everyone who meets Ella says she's such a sweet, fun-loving, and well-behaved dog. To that, I say she must have been raised by my grandmother somehow in spirit. Pets truly are a fascinating thing, because for the longest time, I had friends with all kinds of pets that I loved, liked, or was annoyed by, but I never expected one of my own. I guess that's what made Ella such a Christmas miracle because she blew away all of our expectations and made herself right at home. My grandmother wasn't the biggest fan of dogs, unlike my grandfather. But I think somewhere up there, she knew we missed her dearly and weren't doing so well and knew we needed some cheering up, so she indirectly opened the door to our Ella. To anyone who owns pets, or has owned pets, I get it now. And I'm glad I finally do. It's also deeply inspiring that you made this story straight from the heart, Matt. The fact you had the courage to make such a wholesome story in honor of Watson and those who've had pets but are a memory now says a lot about you as a person. You know how to personally connect with your audience that's so genuine that it's motivating to get through the bad times. Even with other videos, they're indirectly motivating to get oneself out of a rut and to keep moving forward. That's what makes you so enterprising, Matt. You find new ways to capture everyone's hearts all while just being yourself. So well done buddy, you got me again! Also thanks for that clip of me rolling down the mountain, every time I see I laugh my ass off cos it's priceless!!! And I was incredibly honored to start the clapping to Happy Together, Jackson nailed that song by making that classic even more catchy!!!

Shell on Wheels is an instant classic from you, a blend of humourous, heartfelt and mysterious moments throughout. Highlights for me were how references to previous animal stories drove the story and the turntable shot that made me laugh as much as everyone at the premiere! You touched on it in this video and I thought this back when Fortune Teller released, but I love just how many people contribute to your series, the credits seem to get longer each episode! Glad to see you're still doing what you love and can't wait to have an answer to all these new questions soon. Here's to a prosperous 2025 to you, Matt!

This might one of my new favourite episodes from your series. It was so heartwarming and heart-wrenching at once, especially as someone who’s lost some treasured pets in recent years Paxton’s grief and his heart to heart with Donald really resonated with me. It also had a somewhat tense air through certain scenes. Overall a rather unique instalment and very much a welcome one that’s got me more excited than ever to see what comes in the future! Though I must admit the inclusion of a certain feathered fiend definitely left me quite perturbed I must admit.

The episode really did feel like a scrap book as I noticed so many small callbacks and details that somehow made this feel like an episode made back 7, 8, 9 or even 10 years ago. There were still many new things too, like the suggestion that Victor and Kevin may know something about Mr. Larson's repairs. The shots of the characters and any dialogue at the time will give a hint as to what has happened or what will come with their character is another small but significant thing that really feels new. And of course the remade scene from Munitions, (great to see someone in the fandom has pyrotechnician knowledge, Love It.) The plot is something everyone can relate to, making it a bittersweet slice-of-life and it still helps to flesh out the ongoing plot within your series. Merry Christmas!

This was a truly heartwarming and heartbreaking enterprising adventure! I love the sets and visuals overall, kinda makes me wish I filmed outside! I must admit I’m a bit lost on some plot points, haven’t watched the older eps in a while, but I loved Donald’s return with that cool shed door reveal shot. Him and Paxton’s talk and them bonding over their pets was a brilliant moment. When Seth told me he helped you blow something up, I was very intrigued. Of course it was cooler on the big screen at Edison, but that little scene was great and gets me really excited for future episodes. Looks like Mr. Aura is still around after the season 2 finale. I wonder what he’ll do… This was a great episode and yet another great shot in the arm from the fandom to get me pumped to tell my own stories next year.

This one really evokes some memories and once again shows nobody does Paxton like EE93. My very first episode was the original Paxton & Norman. Not every episodes needs to be a duel between Sir Robert Aura and the Thin Controller (although I certainly hope we get more of that soon.) I really like the reintroduction of the narrator in these past couple of episodes. The camerawork is wonderful. I am a fan of those old gritty sets with the linkinlog buildings and the bushes behind the station at the old house, but you really make Sodor come alive.

The small scenes with Skarloey made me think. They’re just hyping me up for Season 2’s eventual finale. Rheneas hasn’t spoken once at all in season 3, nor had he shared the screen at all with skarloey. Makes me wonder what could have possibly went down between them.

I personally felt a connection to this episode when I lost my dog Toby a long time ago. Just like Sheldon, he was beginning to get slower, quieter, and weaker, until he was finally gone. It was so hard to accept he was gone, but that’s how life is, but it doesn’t mean their memories aren’t forgotten. So it taught me to cherish my loved ones while they are still alive, and Shells on Wheels made me remember that lesson. Awesome job Matt

Respoting my comment from the community post in case it somehow gets deleted. Happy Box-ing Turtle Day! Such a heartwarming and emotional episode. Absolute pure cinema. I enjoyed every single moment of it from beginning to end. Once again, you have crafted such a beautiful story. It's such a relatable episode to every pet owner. As said, it is easy to make friends with animals and that's why it's so hard to let them go and say goodbye. I really enjoyed that bit when Donald brought up the fact he once had his pet duck Dilly to relate to Paxton's loss of Sheldon. It was wholesome to see the engines create a gift for Paxton to remember Sheldon by. Also seems Donald may have found his new quackeroo. Once again, a shelltastic episode and a massive round of applause to all the cast and team who were involved in the making of this episode. Can't wait for the next one. Cheers Matt!

The story was really sad, but it took itself very seriously and I think we can all relate to losing a pet. I have lost a few pets along the way. And it hurts. I miss them. I loved them. It almost felt like something died inside of me changes difficult to see the least like you said on the video but when we learn to hold and treasure the time we spent something or someone it can make it a little easier and if you have people to talk to. It helps to ease the pain and understand that you’re not the only one there’s people there for you as you are for them. Even though it can be a bit sad sometimes when we remember times with them, but as long as you keep holding out of those memories and talk to those who need a little bit of help, you can remember the good times with happiness

Shell On Wheels was such a fun watch! It had the humor and heart that one can expect from an Enterprisingengine's production, and I think the plot it explored was very interesting. My eldest dog had to be put down a year ago, and Donald's recollection of his quackeroo had me welling up a bit. Animals really are easy to love, and it hurts a lot when their time comes. Sheldon was such a cute little tortoise, and the fact that he lifted up not only Paxton, but so many other engines, including Diesel of all characters, was extraordinarily sweet, and the sense of hope that I held that maybe, just maybe he could make it, was almost palpable. However, I like that this production doesn't dwell on the depressing side of loss and doesn't go over the top in its portrayal of grief. It shows the sides of grief that tend to help people get out of it. help from friends, others, family, etc. The little posterboard of Sheldon was so dang sweet. When writing tragic events, it can be easy to portray either the depression or just the happy side, but the balance struck here was perfect! Also, for filming outdoors, I have to give props to the lighting you are able to get while out there! In something as fickle as outdoor filming you seem to still always have control over the type of light you want over the set, and it leads to fantastic shots and generally lovely images! Great job on this, and my kudos to you and your team! I hope the New Year brings great prosperity. Thank you for sharing your stories with us!

It is an episode where everyone including me can relate to. Like you said in this video, you had gone through major changes in recent years and this episode reflects that. It also sets up major events of the series coming down the road like Thomas not feeling right in this changing world, the mystery of Mr. Larson, and Sir Frederick’s plan to power.
@ExtraEngine123 күн бұрын
There is a lot to unpack here. WARNING, POSSIBLE SPOILERS! First off, this episode has a great message about change and its inevitably and I think you approached the subject of loss quite well. Secondly, That scene with Donald and Dilly at the end poses a lot of questions, same thing with the scene of charlie. Mr Larson is certainly up to something sinister. Thirdly (is that even a word?), I’m pretty sure I know what all those scenes of the skarloey railway are implying, would explain why a certain someone is mysteriously absent from season 3. Finally, This episode is very well made. All the people who worked on this are incredibly talented. Great job to everyone who worked on this, You are awesome.

I feel like EE makes really good use of the absence of sound. I would not normally say this because I wouldn't want to accidentally offend, but during a lot of the first half of the episode I was sorta telling myself "This all feels a little...off." I dunno if it was the way Donald reacted or how certain things were filmed, but I could honestly *feel* that sorta surreal maybe even David lynch vibe the moment the song got cut off. Particularly I think a lot of it was the absence of over explanation from Thomas or the twins, or the delivery of Kevin's line that I am now realizing might've been this mysterious doupleganger. Something about that scene in the works after dark I really dug. I guess I just want to say it WAS noticed and it's not going unappreciated. Also, yeah. Of course I can relate to poor Paxton... If I could make one suggestion, it would be that if you read from a script, you can essentally put that script into the subtitles and then bam! You got subtitles! For the record, I have also had burnout and then my job started getting in the way and my heart just wasn't in it, y'know? Then like 2 friggin years passed. Totally understand. You're doing great and I promise you we don't mind waiting. You've grown a ton and honestly...it's just cool to watch. Keep it up champ.

And all this time, here I was thinking Mr Larson was a good guy counterpart to Aura. Forget him too! At least whatever that mute meddling miscreant did didn’t keep Thomas and Donald out of helping. I found James's tough guy encouragement cute. What were those shots of Skarloey, Rheneas, and Rusty about? Seemed tense, considering the last time we saw them was when they were chasing waterfalls, despite the well known musical warning to do otherwise (oh wait that’s season 0 nevermind). I know they've been around for a while, but I will say the custom printed faces are a little distracting, especially Edward's. I'd get it if the faces weren’t gonna be digitally edited, but since they are, the alternate faces feel kinda unnecessary. Maybe I'm just stuck in the old ways cause I've been here since back when there was no facial editing. Great stuff as always!

Though why does Thomas feel different at the end? Will their be another setup? Why have your recent episodes felt more laidback and filler like? I'm happy to see you talk about life lessons.

Hey Darryl! Thomas feels a little better at the end of the episode because Edward reminds him that not all changes are bad. Some are even familiar! When Philip pulls up, Thomas sees a new station pilot working under Edward's kind guidance. That's a role he once filled. Then he looks to Edward, whom he is standing side by side as equals. Edward taking on another young engine shows him how far he's come. It help him see a bright side in his own sadness for a moment. With that said, I think Edward and Thomas are both worried about how these recent repair visits have affected Donald and Douglas, and they don't have all the answers. Not knowing what's coming next is scary, but recognizing patterns (like Philip being the new "Thomas") is comforting to both of them.

Might I ask what remix of Jubilife Village you used here? Idk why it caught me off guard since you use Pokemon remixes all the time Also Shell on Wheels was a banger, Donald's little post credits scene got me oddly emotional

great episode. almost made me cry. but, i think I'm starting to put things together. Mr. Larson and Charlie must be working together. Mr. Larson repairs engine (Fergus, Frankie, etc.) and gives part of that engine to Charlie (or whatever Charlie is) to shapeshift and cause mayhem. victor and Kevin are aware of this, but they can't say anything. this thing might be Charlie cause of the smile, but idk.

I wouldn’t say they’re antagonists, but they’re in an extremely uncomfortable position knowing their controller has been in league with Sir Frederick Aura
