commercial long cross country in a vintage airplane. Completed my commercial long xc in my 1946 Ercoupe 415-c. The requirement is a 300nm trip with 3 points of landing and a 250nm leg. Average gallons per hour was 3.1. If you enjoyed and want to follow along my journey of time building & completing ratings subscribe!

Obsessed with the Ercoupe. Don’t really know why. But what a beautiful example you have!

That flight was a nice tag along for me. I am a retired civil engineer in Idaho. I too have an Ercoupe. Cheers.

The Ercoup was so ahead of its time! Looks more advanced than a 2023 172.

I need to do this XC requirement, too. Really interested in an Ercoupe now for the same time building reasons as well. I'll keep an eye out for one within my reach. Thank you for sharing your journey with all this!

Congrats 👏 good job. One thing I have noticed on my coupe is that you really have to pay attention to the carb heat. The old carburetors seems to require more adjustments than the newer ones.

I'm in the process of buying a couple, thanks for the chair flying. After I take possession, I may reach out to you for some cross training. I'm pretty close, fa40, about 45 minutes by air

Enjoyable ride along thanks. Fyi. I was trained in my PPL to always have one hand on the yoke and other on throttle for take off and landings…due mechanical throttle links possibly going faulty.?

Nice Ercoupe. Do you have the original linked control system or has it been converted to 3 axis?

8:05 Do the Regs specify that the entire cross country trip be completed in one day? Seems like allowing for an overnight stop for divergent weather would be a good safety allowance. Perhaps you ate bad mayonnaise at lunch and needed 24 hrs to recover from stomach upset. 16:50 You mention 2.9 G/Tach-Hour; at what cruise RPM does TachTime match Hobbs-Hour? Like 1:1 ratio? Enjoy your videos very much.
@risingsun_
@risingsun_ 2 жыл бұрын
I’ve had that same thought but the stop did make it where the last legs was not 250nm. The tach number times 1.3 is equivalent to hobbs time at the rpm’s I cruise at. When I said gph/tach time the conversion to Hobbs was done

You fly that coupe slow. I use to run at 2250 with the old engine then went to 2300 with the new engine at a blazing 105 mph. But burning 5 gallons an hour in the big c90 engine. Plus i never did lean the engine unless I was over 5,000 feet. Just thinking maybe you should do a tour of the plane someday.

My coupe is slower than most but yes I do fly it slow because I’m trying to build as many hours as possible

Hey Mitch, did you get your commercial rating yet? I really like your videos and I've always been a fan of the Ercoupe. Did you sell the plane, and if so, what are you flying theses days?

Joe here with 2601H. What was your cruise RPM at those lower speeds? That good landing was apparent with the camera by looking back wards. Nice job. I forgot how flat it is down there….
