This is such a cool video! As a CPM, I definitely relate. It might be cool to see property managers talk about their go-to tools to make work more efficient. There are so many options out there (I myself have been demoing a few software options like DoorLoop and Propertyware), and it'd be great to see some streamlined advice!

Hello! This video has been highly helpful in trying to understand which career path I want to follow, even though I live in the U.S. In 2018, I interned for a commercial real estate company in their supportive services department. After networking a little bit with the property management team, I realized that I am highly interested in pursuing property management. As time went by, I was not sure if I wanted to work in commercial or residential and then stumbled onto this video. After this video, I realized that commercial is my end goal but am open for opportunities within residential. Again, thank you for this video.

Hi Heydi, really chuffed it’s helped & thank you so much for telling us - it’s definitely put me in a good mood. I think what you’ve said about being open is spot on. Obviously with what we’re doing with CI we’ve got big ambitions and want to achieve xyz but at the same time we know we’re small and there’s only so much we can achieve in a day. And much like your saying, we’ve got goals, know it’s a journey and open to opportunities along the way. Thanks again & 🤞you get an opportunity in the commercial sector in the not too distant future.

@@careerinsights2430 hi, I've been watching some of the videos in this channel and I've got to say congratulations, you've done a great job! I was wondering if you are planning on putting out content on real estate investment? I'm am planning to switch careers to real estate and would like to be an acquisitions analyst at either a bigger corporation or a small private equity firm. If you know of any other useful content on this could you please point me towards it? It'd be interesting to get insights from a UK perspective, as the only videos I've been able to find are all from the US. Thank you!

Hi Tiago, thanks so much for the kind words. We haven’t got any plans for future videos for the moment. We’re trying to work out how we can make time to bring more content in the future. Hopefully lockdown loosening later in the year will give us some opportunities. Finding interviewees is probably way more difficult than you’d think we’ve reached out to hundreds and maybe thousands to source the interviews we have which is kind of crazy in itself. People definitely see the benefit but I think aren’t willing to make themselves subject to online criticism. Being small we’ve also never got to the point of gaining sponsorship, etc so we’re thinking how we can mix things up and potentially integrate iglu into the channel in the future and maybe talk about insights from starting a business, etc. as well as continuing the same type of content we currently have. ........

No content springs to mind with REM. A lot of friends from university were on the REM course and I think the specialisms they’ve all gone onto are very broad. REM is probably one the few careers that is international in its methods and if you think of the big surveying practices they are global. A good friend moved to Abu Dhabi with one of the big surveying practices and subsequently switched to client side with Etihad. So the content you’re watching could be relevant. We do intend on interviewing him in the future but no concrete plans as yet. All the best with everything and thanks again for the kind words

@@careerinsights2430 thank you for the quick and thorough reply! I'd already imagine it would be difficult to source interviewees but it really sounds extremely challenging and a lot of work/time input! I do understand them being put off by the exposure but glad that at least there are some people willing to share their experiences regardless of it... Indeed, one of pros of RE investment seems to be the methodology/best practice behind the investment/appraisal analysis being the same internationally (even though the variables of the analysis, laws, etc change) and it's one of the (many) things that got me interested as I'd like to move abroad one day. I just recently took an interest in Real Estate and so I'm a complete ignorant with regards to it. Here's a newbie's question: you mentioned surveying practices - what would be the difference between the surveying practices for investment analysis (and deal underwriting) and the ones for quantity surveyors involved in development (ones involved in project management)? From looking at the job market both areas require RICS accredited degrees... Is the surveying experience or knowledge the same? Reason why I'm asking is because I don't have a RE or Finance background but planning on starting a masters degree in RE in September (looking at Henley). I'm going to leave my current job at the end of May and I was hoping to get some work experience/internship during the summer to break into the industry. After watching some of your QS videos yesterday I was thinking if I don't manage to get acquisitions analyst work experience should I alternatively try an internship as a quantity surveyor instead? Thank you!
