We know that manufacturers oil change interval recommendations are mostly based on commercial considerations and not engineering or engine longevity. The criteria being that we want the lowest interval that doesn't cost cause oil consumption or related costs within the warranty period. While all this comes down to the operation type, do we still think the we should be halving the oil change interval recommended by the manufacturer? We can have the best oil available but it's still venerable to contaminant levels. I'm thinking about the unburnt due and soot levels in the oil.
