I just bought Pocahontas 2021. Her hair is definitely silky smooth but quite inflexible. For example, if I put her hair on one side of her shoulder for a sultry look, it will snap back and stay behind. Her hair will stay smooth and straight but it cannot "drape" or mold itself to her curves if that makes sense.

The new environmentally friendly boxes are a step up for easy storage and other resourceful ways to reuse it! ♻️ Especially that it doesn’t include the extra plastic tags that makes the dolls very tricky to take them out! I believe the castle on the brushes is the same one from Disneyland Paris. Excellent review! Hope that Disney will make new boxes for the “princes” , villlains and other heroines like Megara and Esmeralda! 🛍

My husband would agree with you that I too have a problem with collecting Disney dolls lol! Thank you for keeping this video fun yet so informative. Your older doll is from 2010, not 2007. They were much better and more movie accurate than the more modern and current ones.

The Ds Pocahontas with the ring is from 2018/2019, she was made in 2018 but was continued into 2019 and early 2020, and was discontinued around August, but some of the ds dolls from 2018 are still being made on Amazon, but mainly not, it's more for 2018 Elsa is still being made and sold by ds on Amazon! :o

The newer doll looks beautiful. I must admit, I've never seen the Disney movie Pocahontas. Also I really wish we had Disney stores in my country.

Great review! I am a fan of the new packaging and have noticed that some of the princesses were given updates to their body paint ( Snow White, Jasmine and Pocahontas), however their outfits are the exact same and haven’t changed since 2019 ( the line that comes with rings.) I am really hoping that next years line will give us a much needed change in terms of dress design. As for the park dolls, I absolutely love how detailed and accurate they are to what the princesses wear in the parks and am sad to hear that the current Disney store classic line of dolls ( the ones that you’ve just reviewed) are replacing the park version. I’ve been longing for them to make a Mulan and Pocahontas doll for the park line for years, and though they are now in the line , it’s the classic line and the costumes on the dolls don’t look like the dresses you see Mulan and Pocahontas wearing. I really hope that one day they’ll go back to making the dolls look like the girls you see in the parks but keep the non plastic packaging.

I agree. I didn't even think about the fact that Pocahontas wears a different outfit in the park. It's unfortunate that they didn't make a Pocahontas doll wearing that outfit for the parks collection. And same thing for Mulan

i'm sure you will do a comparison vid on the diff disney dolls from mattel , hasbro, and the disney store. but didn't jaks pacific make disney dolls as well at one point.

They did. I have a couple, like an older Tinkerbell I got from the thrift store, and The Incredibles dolls. But the only ones I'm finding now are bigger dolls like baby dolls, children version of the princesses, or they're really large "my size" dolls, and I don't collect those type of dolls.

That is not a 2007 Pocahontas, articulation was introduced in 2010 for Disney store.

Any Disney Store Classic Doll with a ring is from 2018-2019, the dolls from 2020 came with character clips, and lastly the dolls from 2021 come in the plastic free boxes. All the dolls have the exact same outfit from 2018 with the glitter.

For the price increase, these are not worth it. While I appreciate the skintone changes for Pocahontas, Jasmine and Snow White, there's no changes at all. I started collecting them back in 2009 and watched them decrease in quality and pick up back with new faces, outfit details, etc. The biggest issue to me was how terrible their hair is, which was never the case for Ariel who has always had good hair. Of course that isn't to say there hasn't been "improvements". While the hair has gotten a little better in some cases, it still isn't the soft nylon Ariel has. Outfits would be hemmed or left with raw edges, gloves were taken away then given back...It was just always inconsistent. Every year there would be changes obvious enough to maybe warrant buying them again. Ariel is the character who has had the MOST changes done to her face. Here, all it seems is the box is the new feature and while they're nice, I don't think it justifies the price increase.

I totally get it. At the end of the day, I have no idea the cost of producing and manufacturing the new type of packaging vs the old kind. I know the price of making dolls steadily goes up each year, but I have no idea what all was considered when deciding the new price. I agree about the hair. I'm very unimpressed with Disney doll's hair (except Ariel). I will say that the current Ariel face is my favorite of all of the ones I've seen from the Disney Store so far.

Sadly from this moment on (until they decide to change back) all the amazing quality parks dolls have been removed from the shelves and have been replaced by the new dolls. So now all of these classic lower quality dolls are the same for online shop disney, disney stores and disney parks :( I don't know why they have done it... the parks dolls were my absolute favourite and now they are no longer being produced. I don't know what they will be doing with the dolls they removed though... maybe putting them up for sale on outlets :/

Disney closed all the Disney stores now so the only ones you can get or at the park or online there’s one left where I live but it’s two hours away but they have pretty good ones at Target Walmarts OK I wish they make Elena of Avalor dolls for 2021 and put her on the Disney list I love our new Disney princess Raya from the movie raya and the last dragon Pocahontas is my favorite Disney princess then Elena of Avalor I loved the Tiana doll he showed from the Disney park she was very pretty so sad they closed most of the Disney stores I love the one in New York and Atlanta that’s Disney for you ❤️🙏😇

That's a really good point, I hadn't thought about that. I think the older dolls do have a similar skin tone to the new Raya doll.

Honestly, for the Disney store's design, I much prefer the bend and snap knees then their version of articulated knees. But I agree. It would be nice to have some decent articulation in the knee joint.
