"Commit or Quit" is Toxic Summary: 1. Commit or Quit promotes trying harder, no matter what. This is flawed because trying harder when the result doesn’t work for you is insane. 2. In most situations it’s not that you’re not trying harder. It’s that the actual direction and process and way the effort is being utilized is false 3. Trying so hard that you’re livelihood and mental health is damaged means effort isn’t the issue What we should do: 1. Find the plan of least resistance 2. Create a system to create good habits 3. Use only willpower for a spark of change and start habits 4. Consistency will get us to where you want to be

After finishing this podcast series I really wanted to thank you for allowing me and all others to be able to easily access such valuable material. It really opened my eyes to many flaws of my own learning/working methods over the years and also boosted my confidence about the correct ways of thought and learning I picked up lately while allowing me to improve them even further. Finding out about this channel for me is easily one of the greatest products of youtube recommendation algorythm. Once again, thanks a lot and lets keep on improving ourselves.

Main takeaway: you need habits that you are NOT emotionally attached to that you will follow, and will help you improve 1% better each day.

I loved this, this has basically described my entire situation before finding your channel. I have always been the type to just try to "grind" it out. Throughout the absorption of different materials and throughout integrating different pieces of knowledge I have come to the same conclusion of this video. In order to succeed one must also: 1.) Work smart - you need to establish the direction and process of how to effectively and efficiently achieve your goal. 2.) Working consistently - You need to establish a consistent system that will allow you to weather out the unavoidable storms in life. All in all if I were to sum it up: Success = (Hard work* Smart work)^(consistency).

Great content. If and only schools taught the things you're teaching every single one do academically great. Currently I was going thru really bad study habits and ineffective techniques. Where I'm preparing for an entrance exam where the syllabus is huge and the competition is large. But instinctively I knew there was something wrong with the way I was studying. It was when I bumped into your channel I got to know my errors. Before, when I was in high school I used to be in a deep processing state where I could just suck in the information within minutes but along the way I lost the track and started falling into bad study techniques like rot learning, repetition, rereading notes in a form of passive way..but Thank u so much Justin. For doing these amazing contents. For the effort

A lot has begun to make sense in my life having discovered your insights. The reverse goal engineering really started to make sense. Then it made me realise how hard and inefficiently I'd been working and on top.of this how hard I had been trying to reinvent the wheel. I would burn myself out in two week cycles. I've not reached perfection now that I have started to focus on being focused and efficient at work and all of a sudden I started to see the abusive relationship I had with trying hard. It makes you feel good because you are so exhausted but you are like a wave going forward and backward and its very destabilizing. I started to realize my new goal must be consistency and when I started to reverse engineer what I needed to do it made sense just to do the same tasks but with a different emphasis. The problem was I wanted to add more without a solid base. I was researching and implementing but it was impossible but also the only thing that made sense. I learned a huge amount by making mistakes but my results were unreliable because a limiting factor on confidence and performance is energy for creativity for you brain to make those connections tl survive in the moment. As a teacher these unplanned improvised moments allow you to connect with your students both in terms of what they need to learn and how you need to empathically connect with them.

I wasn't addicted to motivation per se. I was addicted to the next thing that would help my life. But it seems the meta skill is time management. To give yourself the best chance to be successful and make more considered choices in the first place.

My life has always been a catch 22 as far back as I can remember. I just realised I have a health problem most likely since birth that has always made me have low energy and feel burned out. I also learned in m late 20s I had the markers for Autism. I started keto dieting a few years ago and realised that I had way more energy in my late 30s than I ever had in life despite being healthy weight as a child. My memory improved vastly and I go so much done in a short space of time. I remember feeling so tired as a child just walking up a stairway to then hardly feel the pull walking up the same stairways in my mid 30s. Thing is finances have been tough and for the past 5 years I haven't been able to afford this diet so the carb inclusive diet is really messing things up for me. Also not being able to be officially diagnosed with ADHD an autism after seeing well known top psychiatrists who were unable to do so due to being past the age limit to do so has messed me up in terms of treatment - which I may not be able to afford again. I made a career change in my 30s out of desperation so that I can afford finding therapy and treatment for my illness and go abroad to get diagnosed so that I can get on medication. So now I'm dealing with ill health and being neurodivergent. This was helpful

1:58 is a fallacy.chosing a frame where you action dont matter is unwise because you are the one who chosses the frame .Also you dont have a reference point to compare it to. It´s a view from nowhere. Also you know that your action have consequenses for you.And that´s the reference point you should chose in live.

Meaning can also be discovered. That's the point of being curious. Justin said it indirectly. There is no need to be so dramatic with all these trigger words and all these absolute exaggerations. A better solution comes from the observation that people are not creating their own fixes, because they are mindlessly e.g. addicted to youtube. Instead, they expect someone else to solve the issue for them. They will feel too much with the fly analogy but cann't express themselves.
