Hi Chris, I love your videos and you have contributed to me more than you realize. I’m finally getting my A3000 up and operating thanks to your help. Unfortunately, I never was able to repair my A3000 PSU even though I replaced all the capacitors, some of the dual power diodes, and other important components. I get all good voltages other than the 12v rail which is too low (tried adjusting the blue variable resistor too), but no go. It either goes into OVP or when it doesn’t is too low of 12v voltage. Anyways, thanks to you I’m learning all the time. I will become a patreon of yours with the new year as it’s the least I can do. Thank you for keeping the Amiga alive (I used to work for Aegis Development back in the 90’s and co-wrote Custom-BBS! as well). I will forever love the Amiga.

Nice minor tweaks and updates, thanks for explaining Chris! I think once I'm using a PiStorm32 and Rom images off an SD card, I'll update. Until then I'll test out my 3.2.1 set up, was about to boot up for the first time today after refurbishing/recapping my machine!

Ver 3 installed and running. Amazing stuff Chris. Much better than Ver 2, more focused and organized, a much better experience. Can't wait for the universal version. Had to smile you including Imagine, and version 4 as well! I cut my teeth on Turbo Silver, than the various versions of Imagine for dos and Windows. BTW I sent you a link to Imagine version 5 the last gasp from CAD Technologies UK who were the last developers on Imagine For Amiga--don't know if it's Abandonware so proceed with caution. So you might include Imagine 5 on the next build. Please include Vista Pro, another favorite of mine. This program was the first big revelation/joyous experience for me on the Amiga. Actually I think i have the Vista version, before the pro version. Ah memories! :)

I only played with 3.2 in WINUAE and never bothered to install it on any of my Amigas. When Amiga Kit sends that PiStorm1200 I will install the 3.2.2 on that puppy. I kind of sort of have not done much with my Amiga's accept work on my A4000 to get the XSurf100 running on it and am having issues with the RapidRoads board much like I did with the A2000 but I can't remember what I did on the A2000 to get it running but I will win that battle its just a matter of spending sometime on it and focusing. I will head over to Hyperion and download the upgrade and burn some ROM's hmmm have to remember where I stored them. Yea I have stuff all over the place but I know I have ROM's.

Haven't switched my A1200 on for a while. May do it later. Spec is aca1221, 32mb, SD Hdd, RTC, Gotek, WB 3.1.4, 28mhz, 3.1.4 ROM.

Have they fixed a bug in the intuition menu system to do with the checkmark. I wrote menu datatypes which took over drawing the checkmark. Problem came with checkmarked items when the menu was kept open. ie left click menu, while holding left button right click checkmark item to toggle it. Problem is intutiion doesn't update the checkmark status (only in this situation) until after drawing the toggled checkmark. So by my taking over drawing the checkmarks I am reading information that is not yet updated, but only in this situation. I did some sort or work-a-round but a bug fix would certainly be better?

i dont know on that one, but keep in mind that the new os version installs the latest hyperion icon.library, so if your using a custom one like PeterK's from aminet it will overwrite it.

Just updated from 3.2.1 to 3.2.2. I have a TF1260 installed. I copied the ehide.device loadmodule command from my backup startup-sequence and it's working fine. Though I noticed that my amiga 1200 does a second reboot when I power it on. Is this due to the updated exec version? I am using physical 3.2.1 modified roms for the TF1260.

Hi Chris. Just curious about your opinion. I've considered adding an FPU on my A1200 turbo board. Do you think it's worth it for the software that uses it ,like mp3 players or FPU accelerated original software. It requires physically soldering in an FPU next to a 68030. My card is ACA1234, but I do not know anyone that has one with the FPU. I'm trying to get close to A4000 speed and compatibility in a compact package. Thx if you manage to read this at some point.And I've heard that some emulators that can run on the 1200 really need the FPU. No RTG, just AGA thought. I've used Shapeshifter for example in the past (mac emulator and it was incredibly slow)

it depends on the card being used. if that card has no FPU then definitely . with my TF1230 its great. and while on my video i did do the native clock, you can wire it directly to the crystal and clock it to 28 or even add a seperate crystal and clock it even higher, depending on the mhz of the fpu used. then it will really help

Does Hyperion get help from the comunity when updating their roms, either way, an update is cool, the Amiga OS is something I just can't seem to let go but it does need to get its browsers up to scratch, not sure if that's a technical pain in the ass but I do think it`s holding it back.

Its probably always going to be a pain as the underlying 68K architecture is ancient by modern standards. The systems are also going to be memory & clock speed limited. You're never going to get a powerful enough 68K based system to achieve a decent browser complying to todays standards (unless you emulate the system but in that case it would just be easier to use the browser of the system the emulator is running on).

Its free. When you purchase the 3.2 os cd from any retailer there is a cd key inside . You register this key in their website which allows you digital downloads of your purchase also and future updates

Generally all the older Commodore/ESCOM ROMS are READ ONLY (ROM = Read Only Memory), you would need to purchase 3.2 / 3.2.1 / 3.2.2 ROMS or buy an EPROM and a programmer

i bough kickstart 3.2.2 but when i install that to my amiga 500 rev 6a i got black screen and red light on the keyboard blinking what im doing wrong. Kickstart 1.3 work good

Unless your 500 has additional fast RAM and one MB chip, I would not run anything except 3.1 max but that’s up to you did you by chance install the rom backwards?

Mate... The Amiga died in 1994 along with the Commodore. I understand the desire to experience the sensations of a child or an adolescent when you have grown old but it cannot happen. Any computer or even mobile device today does better than the old amigas and that child or kid who used them will never come back... just like the Commodore. I would also love if we had more choice. I would love to choose between Commodore, Sinclair, Atari etc. devices in step with the times... but it is not possible. They are DEAD more than Kennedy and Julius Caesar. If they churn out another version every year now and you need a bloody new set of ROMs each time I am going back to 3.1 and stay there. This is becoming annoying. a "modern" S is pretty pointless for these machines anyway. It's not Like 99.99% of Amiga software doesn't already run perfectly fine.

Its not "another version", its an update to 3.2 - you don't necessarily need new ROMS you can do what was done in the past with 3.5 and 3.9 and just load ROM Modules from hard-drive (but you pay the penalty via a slight soft reboot after start-up)

@@catriona_drummond And that's fine, you do you. But I'm not a fan of people spreading FUD/misinformation. A new version of AmigaOS is not released "every year" their was about a 3 year gap between 3.1.4 and 3.2, and I am going to assume that it will be a similar or greater gap between 3.2 and 3.3. The updates are free and you don't need to buy new ROMs for them for the updates to work (they just work nicer if you do). Plus you can always buy EPRoms and a programmer and write your own ROMs from the images provided with each update, you have plenty of options and it's entirely up to you. Last but not least you don't have to buy it, no one is forcing you too.

I use ACA1234. The ROMs can be flashed to the axel card (but it's for A1200). There are 4 spots for kickstarts besides the physical ones on the main PCB. Software flash to the card. I've managed to boot my a1200 from 1.3 kickstart, but only floppy drive worked for obvious reasons
