Teacher I've been living in Bournemouth since 2013 so when I arrived here I didn't speak anything in English. I wasted much time avoind to learn the language,I know I am a stupid. I am not sure I started to understand and do the things myself around 3 years ago. I am studying a course in the college called ESOl it means English as second language and 1 week ago I figured your channel out I am simply eating it up every day. I would like to say that I am so grateful about your job made with much love to us students in special we immigrat who are living in England. My apologies if I make some mistakes but it was from my bottom of heart. Thanks dear Teacher You are the best ever.

As someone who has lived in the UK (England) and the USA, this is quite informative to those who may not be familiar with the vernacular of the country. Unlike other commenters, I agree that these are used quite often by both people with whom you are familiar and those that you aren't. For example, asking someone "you alright" is quite common. It's a way of saying "Hi, how are you." This is a brilliant channel for those who want to learn about common greetings and phrases in the UK. As for me, I'm quite knackered and am going to rest... ;)

I was living in England for 6 months, where I learnt my English, and I use a lot the expression “I’m knackered”, and of course, British words and British pronunciation, and when I moved to Dubai they didn’t understand that expression 😅 or other words. And now after another 3 months between different accents, I get confused sometimes, mixing british, american, and another kind of english words in the same sentence 😅

I really loved your lessons, not just for the test, as you have a fresh way to teach idioms and phrasal verbs or any other piece of information that could be helpful for those who are learning. I would suggest to included more about British culture as differences between English from UK and USA. Another topic could be to learn vocabulary and at the same time show how are the British supermarkets or maybe how are British houses (quite different from America as power outlet is different and vocabulary of the house as well) or a conversation in a pub. Thanks for share all the piece of advices that you give on your channel. All the best , you have one more follower

It is wonderful how huge of a difference just putting a little extra effort into a language can make a man gain more respect and sound more educated. Sincere apologies from America for the grammar in this comment as it is early in the morning and I've yet to finish me coffee, but greatly appreciate the lesson in language arts. Every once in a blue moon a notice meself still pronounce it without putting me tongue against me teeth with more of a "city accent" or "Lndn" accent, yet it is massive to be able to have some solid knowledge to rest on and have the choice to show bigger respect for the beautiful language that is English. Awesome lesson, so helpful for me as my son-in-law (and soon to be Dad) is from the UK. I have picked up a few phrases here and there but you are most helpful😉

In Harry Potter they used rubbish meaning someone was lying, not telling the truth
@clarelow39436 жыл бұрын
Jacob Alcuadrado yes that’s usually used in conversation when you think somebody is saying nonsensical stuff eg. If someone said “I read that ostriches can fly!” I could reply “That’s rubbish.” or just “Rubbish.”

Every single one of these is used in Australia, and frankly most Australians wouldn't even know that words like rubbish and knackered and cheers weren't used in the US. Although we'd all know Americans don't say mate. We would say knackered to mean sleepy in that sense of tired. It more means exhausted here. Generally used if you've been working hard all day and you finally sit down and say'I'm knackered'.

+Adaadam Rayon Yes, that's right. I spent a year living and working in Australia and they all used these words. However, sometimes slang terms and greetings are used in different contexts... such as "alright" and I noticed that some Aussies would get a little bit confused sometimes. Of course Australia was colonised by the British so the language and style is much more similar than American

When exhausted to the point of pain, I'm past knackered - I'm shattered. LOL Shattered can also mean extremely upset.

Adaadam Rayon that's because Australians are cool :D

I've heard Americans use rubbish but not in the sense of what you throw out in a can to go to the landfill. More like a substitute for nonsense. Like we'd reply to someone "now that's just a bunch of rubbish." For the other kind it would be trash or garbage.

You should do more videos about phrasal verbs, british expressions, idioms and slang. The views will skyrocket
