I saw you have your input sensitivity set to -10dBv. That is only for consumer grade. Since you are running your audio through an interface, you should set it to +4dBu. Dope video.

@Infinite Revery there we go! Cheers
@desuu0ka3 жыл бұрын
@Infinite Revery the difference is the input sensitivity. -10dBv is more sensitive and best suited to lower output voltage devices, such as laptops or phones. Secondly -10dBv is for unbalanced inputs such as RCA cables. +4dBu is for balanced inputs such as XLR. For Pro audio gear like an interface one should use + 4dBu since it has balanced outputs and higher output voltage. Running an interface signal into -10dBv sensitvity is non optimal gain staging. So it depends on your output device. Since it was an interface in this video that was being used, the input senitivity should be set to +4dBu. If the monitor is too loud one should decrease the volume on the speakers.

What input sensitivity do you select for your focusrite ? What are the differences ? Manual talks about +4dBu for pro audio equipment vs consumer such as iPhones. When I connect to +4 dBu it is a low volume. The trouble shooting section says to select -10dBv. Is focusrite considered professional equipment? Manual says factory setting is -10dBv which should be good for many applications. You didn’t cover this can you please provide some guidance? Thanks so much all other info was very helpful

No offense but: 1) being so close to the wall you might want to use the low frequency trims. I got mine on stands, behind my desk, 40 cm away from the walls and still need to attenuate LF by 2db (mk1 series). I measured that with pink noise and with that setting the bass responses correctly 2) taking out the boomyness with that boundary eq makes the highs become more present and believe it or not they are prefectly flat out of the box - no trimming needed. 3) you are using balanced signals from an audio interface -> u need to switch to +4dBu or the signal will distort give it a try, u'll see ;) also the KRK smartphone app could come in handy for you

I have these monitors and first, the noise coming out is not static, at least for me, it’s a hum and a hiss. And it is apparent when the volume knob is at the 1 position. Note: the volume knob does not control how loud the hiss is, it remains at the same loudness when it’s on 10 as when it’s on 1. 2nd, the noise is generated without any inputs plugged in, just the power cord. Did some research, people found out that it’s the speaker amp causing the noise. Not ground issues that could be solved by pulling out the ground prong. It’s annoying

6:14 No a guitar cable wouldn't work perfectly. you need a 6.3mm TRS balanced cable. the difference can be seen by having two rings or just one on the connectors
@melangkoh41843 жыл бұрын
this speakers have a penetrant noise emission out of the tweeter and it doesnt change a f.... if you have the volume output on level 10 or level 1. YOure also speaking in very unspecific terms when youre always mentioning "static" coming out of the speakers. People sometimes get a noise from different potentials on the ground-wires, very often for example when the monitors are connected to a PC per 3,5mm audio-jack. In this case turning down the volume on the speakers can actually reduce it, but when this is the case, the problem is so bad anyway that you have to find a more radical solution, for example using an optical output to your DAC or using a ground lift, or using balanced XLR. Because many use unbalanced RCA to 6,3mm adaptercables. But like i said, the "static" how you call it, on this speakers always includes a nasty noise coming out of the tweeter dome, its amplifier-related and it doesnt care a sh.. if the volume is on 10 or 1. So wheter its "this" or "that" static, your advise to turn down the volume on the back is nonsens. Pardon my french.
@draco1472 жыл бұрын
Try connecting it to another wall outlet where no other appliance is connected. I had a hiss from the tweeter even when nothing was connected and turned out that it was caused by another device that shared the same outlet. You can even take it to another house and see if the hiss is still there.

Hey Garrett, I am having an issue with these speakers and I'm hoping you can help me resolve it. I have my interface selected as my playback device and I have the Mackie ASIO Driver selected for input/output in FL Studio. I also have selected the audio interface as the output target on the master channel in FL. If I route the audio to my headphones from my interface I get a signal and can hear the audio playing, however there is no signal on the main meters and no sound whatsoever when I try to route the audio to my main outs. I have balanced XLR male to female cables connected from my left and right main outs to my left and right studio monitors respectively. I have switched the input sensitivity to +4dBu since both my speakers and interface support it and my cables are balanced. Everything is brand new and I am running out of solutions to try. Please Help!

Hey! make sure the gain and faders are set appropriately. If you are sending out of the Main Out, make sure the channels you are using have the L-R switch engaged. Be sure the mute switches are not engaged on any channels that you are using. Also, if your mixer has Solo buttons, make sure none of those are engaged either. If you are trying to send signal through your auxes, make sure the aux send on each channel you are using is turned up as well as the master aux. Finally, make sure the Break switch is not engaged. This can be found near the master fader. The Break switch mutes all channels.
