I've been dipping for a yesr and a half but still found a couple helpfuls. One thing I found when I've hardened top coat brushes Is, they are removable from the cap. Amazon sells replaceable brushes in a bag. Buy not only that, the original brush can be soaked over night in acetone (I use a small jar with lid), wash with soap & water, let dry and it is reusable too.

Here’s a tip ☝🏼 When doing your first layer go to your mid nail & down stroke with the brush, not all the way to the top by cuticle. Doing this will add a nice curve to the nail vs looking straight & flat on top :)

The apex method is amazing! But here's another tip: if the nail you're adding dip color already has an apex, just do two or three thin layers over the entire nail. Doing an apex over an apex doesn't come out so great lol I learned that the hard way. Sometimes I'll build my apex with clear first

What I do with the top coat is generally do my dip through the activator in the evening, and wait until the next day to put top coat. I wash my hands in water only, no soap, dry them, and then do the top coats, waiting between coats. I've ruined bottles of top coat at the beginning by not waiting after the activator. This tip is also great for moms because it gives you a good stopping point if the kids need you!

I have everything I need, and am planning to try it out on my next mani - but I don't want to mess it up, especially as I have learned how to do the perfect gel manicure, and even how to do my own Gel-X nails whenever I break a natural nail - and they truly look and feel like a natural nail. I'd love to try dipping, though .. it just looks so easy, but I'm reticent to try it due to all of the pitfalls. But then I was afraid to try gel, and I very quickly became 'an expert' with it, thanks to KZbin. I will be re-playing your video before I try it, though!

Wow this was super super informative and thorough because my nails were looking like cotton balls because I didn’t know that you can buff him to get them to the right shape. Two questions though - 1-After you buff too much and you start losing pigment is that when you put the clear dip powder to continue buffing? 2-And can you just wipe your brush with paper towel after each tip alone or do you have to use the brush saver liquid each time?
@CaroleAnnette3 ай бұрын
@@artchicke3653 glad this helped!! 1. You apply clear dip powder as your final layer of dip powder before activating your nails, thus before filing and buffing them. This will help ensure it doesn’t lose pigment! 2. You don’t have to use the brush saver each time if you’re wiping on the paper towel and if your brush isn’t getting hard.

It does. I have pitting from psoriasis and dip fills it in nicely. That said I do add an extra step - I do a base layer or two to get a good coat all over, then I harden that with the activator and file/buff to get a nice even thin layer with all the pits filled in and smoothed out. Then wipe off dust/activator residue and resume dipping to finish to your desired end result as normal. I find I get a nicer end result this way than if I build all the layers and need to buff/file a ton at the end to get rid of all the lumpiness from the underlying pitting. Also then you don’t risk having to file through your clear cap at a particularly high point. I usually use a natural/nude color for the first layer then do the finish layers with whatever color I like - saves wasting the pretty colors by applying them just to file it off again.
@monicataylor787111 ай бұрын
The kit I got came with cuticle pusher, soft ish brush, files with different grits, as well as a heal oil for the end. It came with bond liquid to put on after you push cuticles and file/buff your nails and sanitise, to prevent oils affecting the bond. then the base for dips, the seal to activate, and the glow top coat. Only thing it didn't come with was a sanitizer of any sort to sanitise with.

The appeal to dip powder is the fact that you don’t need gel or a curing lamp to use the system. Those who are using gel to do the dip routine are doing the “gel method”. It’s very common for those who experience sensitivities to the dip powder liquids.

If you have a bad experience with a Brand because their quality isn’t that great, then you likely won’t stick with dipping. To give yourself the best chance with a great quality brand, I highly recommend starting with an indie brand such as ManiBoss. Their liquids are incredible and they have smaller jars. Kiara Sky only sells 1oz size, and if you’re dipping at home, you’ll rarely ever go through a 1oz jar. Most of mine are 0.25oz

I thought my top coat was just cheap and expired but I just learned the hard way I was getting activator in my top coat! If I wash my hands after letting the activator do its job and then also apply alcohol would there be much activator residue left?

Washing your hands and/or wiping the activator with rubbing alcohol should do the trick! I only wipe with rubbing alcohol and never have any issues with the top coat hardening anymore 🙌

Loved the video and fixes for the don't too! But If top coat starts to harden is there something to use to save it? Do you use rubbing alcohol after activated then buff then top ? Or activator buff then alcohol ?

I usually let my brush sit in the bottle for 24-48 hours and it softens up naturally. If it happens too often, at some point it will stay ruined :( The latter, activate, buff and then rubbing alcohol to clean the dust off.

Thanks for the video, trully helpful! I use revel nail and cannot get an even shiny finish, my nails are Matt on certain areas, could you help me know why?

The activator will play a huge role in this. What brand dip top coat are you using?

Omg, filing the file edges. This could have saved me so much pain if I'd learned sooner. Thank you!

I have a question on your nails after you remove that you put some cuticle oil? And when you are reapplying the dip do you leave the oil around the cuticle?
@CaroleAnnette3 жыл бұрын
If I don’t plan on doing my nails immediately, I do apply cuticle oil. But it’s very important to remove all oils before doing your nails again, as the oil can cause lifting.
