Great assessment of the situation in o scale! Thanks.

Dear Al, very interesting to hear you’re gonna do an O-scale two rail layout in your garage! Will be a great pleasure to follow. Couldn’t really see how wide your garage is. Could even be your garage can accommodate a fairly large layout, even with some wider bench work, wherever necessary. Nevertheless, the examples you showed are pretty great footprints for modeling in O, whether 28” or even 30”. Looking forward to seeing the layout come to fruition. Cheerio

Loved the video! I have modeled multi-scale forced perspective for a long time. Add some O in FRONT of the HO and have at it!

Folks I like All scales! This is just a discussion of some common O scale myths

Good info! You're making me a believer... And I love seeing someone that actually weathered their O scale trains and buildings... So often everything is pristine and has that "fresh outta the box" look...this was much more realistic and I loved it

Al I model 2 rail 0 scale , but in place of DC or DCC, I use Dead Rail . No more running the layout to operate my locomotive but with direct control independent of other trains around me. A note for the High Railers, (quote , 3 Rail Scale ) You can Run on 2 Rail scale track code 145/148 ,with the use of Closed Frog Turnouts , with out the need for scale flanges , eliminating the need for the unsightly oversized track and a 3rd rail

The landscaping on that O scale layout is fabulous. Years ago, I used to love O scale. But, when I realized that the track gauge was wider than it should be I turned away from O scale. HO is my primary scale. But, I've always LOVED HO scale. I wish Proto:48 was in high demand on the market with RTR engines and accessories and proper track gauge but unfortunately it's not. I'd still be involved in 1:48 modeling if Proto:48 was popular with modelers. I wish you great success in building your future O scale layout, Al. 😊

H0 is also off

I don't agree. But, even if HO is off, it's only by a tiny degree. Not enough to fuss about. O scale is way off...close to 5 feet. I'm never going back to it.

hi, what dimension is 5 foot off? just curious.

I ❤ the Weaver B&O Cincinnatian on the table, i have O scale highrail 3 rail layout. Of C&O. 👍, L shaped 12 × 10.5 I'd love to find a concrete coaling tower to match the the C&O Cheviot Summit Yards

What about the availability of an engine's in high rail vs. three rail O scale?
@docwithnodegree341611 ай бұрын
Are they not the same? As far as gauge?

Every locomotive I've ever wanted on the B+O C+O and WM I've been able to find in 2 rail just need to do alittle more searching sometimes

Gauge is the same Raul height is not

Far, far more 3rail stuff....probably by many multiples. Frankly, as a 2 railer, when I think about buying an engine in 2 rail, I dont think about buying from a hobby shop or manufacturer. Of my 22 steam engines, only 7 were purchased new from Atlas and Sunset. Amazingly, several of the others were purchased nearly mint, some still in original wraping from people who were more collectors than operators. Also, some of the new pieces were a limited run in 2 rail so if you want a specific model you have to search somewhere other than a hobby shop.
