I've been building/stealing more workers thanks to your guides, but I always seem to run out of things to do with them on tradition, ~15ish turns before reaching railroad tech. Am I doing something wrong, should I be building preemptive external roads for potential wars, or deleting the workers or something?
@ryk2527 күн бұрын
Super common issue to run into. You need workers for war to build forts, roads, etc. If you war someone you’ll need workers to road, improve tiles, repair pillaged tiles, etc. If I end up deleting workers, I find myself needing to build more later on. So up to you to decide what to do with them.

this is probably the best video yet but the fact you didnt make this into a aprils fools video is almost disapointing

when you say OCC here are you referring to one city challenge or something else?

Yes: One City Challenge

Why shouldn't you build walls? Lack of yields = missed hammers, but I feel it's easy to get steamrolled w/o them, especially as a new player. Also are these guides using the "online speed" setting added by Lekmod? If so how different is it from quick speed? And what are the conventional settings for Lekmod games, i.e. policy saving, simultaneous/hybrid? Also, what is "sim"? Is it just city micro/how "tall" the city is? Sorry for the barrage of questions, possible I missed this from other videos. Ty for the video good stuff

Walls are useless. If you build walls as a new player, you’re telling an experienced one you’re new and they’ll just come kill you sooner. The way you don’t get steamrolled is by by having good sim. Speaking of, sim is short for simulation or the part of the game where you’re just placing city, moving workers, clicking buildings - no other player interactions. Good sim means you played your land well and have a good game because of it. Lekmod only uses quick speed. Settings are: all of the AI stuff, simultaneous turns, pitboss, fast hands,resources 5, average everything. I may be missing something but you can check any of the videos I set up a game in and I usually double check the settings

Thanks for the guides, it has been really insightful. Any plans to make any more for harder topics such as all the niche exceptions to these rules? Or something more in-depth about piety or liberty costal?

We'll be diving into a lot more advacned concepts but this is the end for the basics!

Occ, where u rush gl and then get philosophy and rush NC, used to be an Og vanilla strat. I realized its never been attempted by any good lekmod player, i wonder if it was because it was simply not the best strategy or just completely unplayable. I guess it is the latter. I wonder why it was an okayish strategy on online vanilla for a while years ago.

I'm a fairly new player relative to many others so I can't speak to why it was popular. But many people I know are saying it was always bad but people were much worse then so it was serviceable.
@King-uj1lh Жыл бұрын
@@ryk25 interesting yeah that could be the case. Also maybe everyone was tradition then so less chance of getting early killed. But that doesn’t matter if your irrelevant anyway. But yeah Og strats were pretty different. Always universities first unless you are invading/ getting invaded. A lot more focus on science. You only went bottom of the tech tree on the few times u go liberty.
