My son had a TBI in 2020, seizures began 12/2020. He is now 13 and I’m having such issues. Emotional behavior problems, memory issues and depression, ideations are a big issue now. Recently I have become an enemy to him in his mind. I feel so lost. I’m not sure how to correct these recent behavior issues. We have been seeking medical advice for 2 years now and have not had any success. Would u have any advice? Or suggestions for us? Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts on this subject. A loving mother. ❤

Thank you for your comment and we are sorry you are going through this. We would recommend seeking help from a mental health provider like a psychologist or a social worker, better if you can find a trauma-informed provider. A support group for teenagers with TBI may also be helpful. Some of the emotional and behavioral changes that come with teenage hormonal changes may be affected by the TBI. Whether TBI or not, a mental health provider can help you both problem-solve big issues together. Here are some more articles for teenagers with brain injury: www.brainline.org/children-tbi/teens-tbi You can search for resources local to you here: www.brainline.org/resource-directory No matter what you do, your love is apparent and appreciated. Good luck!

@@brainline thank you for your reply. I will check out the links you have provided. We have been working with a number of professionals. Though they say they are versed in TBI and mental health, everyone states his case is so complicated due to his hx. One step at a time. I will look into support groups for him and us as well. The state we are in isn’t the best I’m learning for mental health issues. Maybe a geographical change could be beneficial? Appreciate your input. Hoping for a better tomorrow.

@@menomama3419 I suffered a head injury at 8 hit by a car going mph left side of my head swallowed my tongue and choked to death. I was in hospital 2 days no treatment and sent back to school where i warmed a chair for 10 years. i could not learn their way anymore. i had severe anger issues my whole life with no fuse. life long failure. that was 54 years ago. i was not even told i had a brain injury so i played hockey and rode dirt bikes and had 4 concussions doing that. its a tough road as there is no cure for a brain injury. there really isnt anything they can do. all i can say is try to keep him mentally active. shrinks and stuff as far as im concerned cant do anything but take your money. but i didnt go until i was old maybe younger might help. all depends on the injury. I had a couple grand mall seizures in the first year and for a few years what some king no motion seizures like day dreaming but its not. Im sorry for your son i know the pain. i was laughed at and ridiculed in school. i spent most of my life thinking i was just stupid. Again sorry but i dont have anything good to say about it. For me i wish i had been left dead. rest of my family are very successful i couldnt even keep a job. Only thing that gets me through anymore is i gave my life to Christ. So you make ask why i clicked on this video, im still looking for answers. dont find any though. And to add one more thing. i dont think like a normal person. i learned to trust no one. dont try to force something on him. show him why it would be in his best interest. everything i learned i learned on my own, my own way at my own speed. i have no long term memory just a few moments. I cant learn from a book i have to do first then use books for reference. i dont remember anything i read that i want to. what i remember is just by chance. and i have no control.

Hey, I fell twice off a high bed when I was an infant and didn't lose consciousness even once. I used to be a very adventurous kid and had a fair share of bumps. My cognitive abilities were above average, my memory was sharp and still is and I'm absolutely normal. So don't worry. Hope your baby is doing well.
