If we have common sense, we know that an giraffe will not fit in a refrigerator. So when we realise that it is a huge fridge (or tiny animals) when the answer is given, why should we assume that the fridge is not large enough to fit both a giraffe and an elephant? Why would we need to take the giraffe out of the fridge just to put the elephant in? That's the only thing I don't understand.

Also, both questions also use the indefinite article "a" to describe which refrigerator, leaving it pretty wide open, and common sense tells me that there is more than one refrigerator in the world, so putting an elephant into a refrigerator has nothing to do with how I handled a giraffe in a different refrigerator. On a side note, my coworker just attempted to ask his 5-year-old these questions. We made it through two. On the first, she laughed at him and told him that giraffes can't fit in refrigerators. On the second, she got angry and said he wasn't listening, and elephants won't fit either. So all of this is kind of BS. :)

The ACTUAL answers for this "common sense test" 1. How do you put a giraffe in a refrigerator? - you can't 2. How do you put an elephant in a fridge - you can't 3. I can't even be bothered to type it but - such a task would be impossible 4. There is a river, you must cross, however the river is inhabited by crocodiles. How do you cross the river without being killed? - you wouldn't cross the river, and the crocodiles wouldn't be on an ark because that task is impossible. This is not common sense, this is simplistic thinking that's why children succeed in this test. Because their brain are literally underdeveloped.

These questions do NOT judge common sense. "Overthinking" is one thing, but it's ALSO "common sense" to know the typical size of a giraffe or an elephant and the typical size of a refrigerator and know these answers don't work. The CORRECT "common sense" answers for the first one would be "You don't" or "You would need more information: lie does the animal have to be alive to count? How large IS the giraffe, and how large is the fridge?". The second question, in addtion to the other concerns would have the question, "Are we talking about the same fridge as in the 1st question or a completely different fridge?" The fact that a four year old doesn't possess the knowledge of the world (and in some cases even basics like concept of relative size) to account for a cognitive problem does NOT mean they have superior reasoning skills. It merely means they don't dismiss answers as being fundamentally incorrect out of hand. Now if you wanted to pursue questions about CREATIVITY, ala the capacity for LATERAL THINKING, that's an entirely different argument and yes I'd say older people and especially professional tradesmen are often terrible at that sort of logic because they've been trained to repress it. But it DOES NOT mean they're any less proficient at common sense reasoning.

I completely agree. Also, The uploader didn't put much thought into STRUCTURING this test well. Certain variables like stating, "these questions are inter-related", are of the utmost importance to be made cognizant. If you assume that each question is a separate entity, then you're most-likely to " guess wrong". He should have specified that. And like many other comments, I agree that his last scenario wasn't described correctly. Inhabited means "occupied by", therefore stating that the river is occupied by crocs. It's paradoxical to say that they were on the ark, because that infers that they were either at two places at once, or one part of that information was FALSE. I say that he's lying about preschoolers answering these questions correctly because they wouldn't know what inhabited means. If someone told them that it simply means "filled up with", then they most likely would've answered "incorrectly". A four yr old mind would make more of a direct connection given two aspects, because of how simple their minds are at that age. ie, "Billy, pour that juice into this cup for mommy." Billy does not use a measuring cup to do so, because it's most likely not in his range of thought to do so. This test is flawed. .

1. Is wrong. A regular refrigerator is too small for a giraffe. Also wtf is the point? Trying to squeeze a giraffe in there is one of the few false answers you could imagine there. 2. Is wrong as well. The question clearly states "A" fridge. Even if it would be the same, there is no reason for the elephant not to fit in, if the giraffe can. Common Sense: My answer- You can't fit an elephant or a giraffe in a fridge. Ever. Also, there was never an indication that the questions would lead into one another. I didn't know there would ever be such a strong correlation between Noah's Ark (fictitious story) and an elephant stuck in a fridge (Illogical reasoning). Or, that when the statement claims that crocodiles do inhabit a river...that they actually don't for the time being. This test makes no sense. I got the first answer correct. in the next question, it said how do you put an elephant in A fridge, not THE fridge, referring to the last question. So if you gave the same answer, you were still correct. Also, in the Noah's ark question, you act like the elephant has no way whatsoever of coming out of that fridge... it makes no sense. Lastly, you said that the crocodiles were in the river but they were also on the ark... now suddenly teleportation plays a role in this???

Question 2: I did not need to remove the giraffe, because if we're just assuming very large fridge or very small animals, my fridge could hold them both at once.
