Thank you for this video, today I jumped for the first time and had a spin and knew from my practice how to help myself, I saw this video 12 hours before my jump and was up in the air without fear and was able to solve the problem.

Had a pretty nasty line over that I managed to fix by some miracle last June. It’s honestly important that I actually wanted to understand and learn how to act accordingly to malfunctions

I've had several line twists, a couple closed end cells all handled without a chop. And one malfunction that required a chop as the main was torn in half. Yes sir - torn in half! Some great content and with Safety Day just behind us a great time to put it out there.

Thank you for sharing and the kind words. In half is wild! I couldn’t imagine pulling, looking up, and seeing that… wild!!

@@SalvadorChangg - I was test jumping an used canopy that was F111 for both top and bottom skin. It had been shipped out and the top skin treated to make it behave like a ZP skin (similar to the Silhouette I ended up with). Turns out: 1) The pilot chute was too big 2) The bridle too short 3) The ZP too unpourous for the parachute cell design 4) and! I was test jumping the container + reserve with NO AAD at the same time. Pitch out was set for 4k so I broke off from my little group and pulled at 4k - to have an instant open! Ever hit a brick wall at 120? 5 A lines, 4 B lines, 4 C lines and 3 D lines all snapped, 2 of the A Lines below the split also snapped (down by the harness), the center cell tore from front to about a foot short of the rear, I was flat on my back in a fast spiral watching mountains, Kansas, mountains, Kansas pass between my feet. (This was when I lived in Denver and jumped at Mile High). I had practiced my emergency procedures on every climb to altitude and that is what saved me. Muscle memory kicked in and I had chopped and pulled to see a bright neon pink Raven reserve above my head before I could think through what to do. I do remember looking "above my head" to see only ribbons fluttering hard as I was whipped around and knew this was going to be a cut-away - and I was in free fall with the reserve opening. Practice, practice, practice! It could save your life one day.

Sir, a main canopy torn in half is considered a minor malfunction. ;P

Congratulations, Sal! When you began this channel you began as most: talking on a video. This upload proves that you have now transcended the KZbinr threshold. You're now talking TO US through the edited images. I opened a beer while I watched this and I might as well have bought it downstairs as a wind hold sacrifice. This is why I trust your pack jobs. This is why I watch this channel when I can't be there. Skydive Radio is the podcast milestone for our sport and this channel is well on its way to being the same for this platform. "Eating it out the door". You speak for us all, sir. And best of all, to us. Honestly.

Truly appreciate the kind words and I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I’m just trying to help if I can along my journey. KZbin is challenging sometimes but extremely satisfying when I connect with individuals like yourself. The positivity and kind words means more to me than you know. Just a guy documenting his experience, and trying to make each video better than the last

Great videos Sal, if you start facing the last 2 malfunctions frequently this could be a sign your lineset is out of trim and your canopy needs a reline.

That was brilliant to watch, i had line twist few times and now every time i pull - straight after that i put my hands between risers to stop line twist to occur, end cell closure also is not a big deal if you stay calm and you do flare few times till cells as you said get inflated, never had stuck slider but now i know how to deal with it😊🤙fly safe

Awesome video! Hey, I don't know if it's something that others would enjoy, but Since you said that you're a Rigger I thought about a video of you packing a reserve because I really find that interesting and a lot of videos on Yt about that are kinda bad quality. But if its not possible I'll still love to watch your "normal" crazy content. 😁👍🏼

Nah fr the odds of a malfunction are like 1 in 1000 and the odds of a malfunction resulting in injury and or death is like 1 in 225,000 compared to 1 in 400,000 in tandem I think those are right ? Lol it’s an extreme sport you have to be on point no room for indecision

Same 100% of the time I’ve had end cell closers on my Sabre 2 210, 190, and Sabre 3 190. Every, single, jump. It’s complete muscle memory now for me to grab my rears and pull down on the left to stop the turning and wait for the right 1-2 cells to inflate.

Dude, just jumped my first rig sabre 2 and my first jump i was like ohh shit, end cell closure. Nope. Thats just how they are. A few pumps to the rears and all good. Or i just turn and let the wind open it up. Great flying canopy though. I have the 210

If these are COMMON problems---why have they not beed resolved or mods made to prevent these?? The local jump school has bounced a couple of folks in the last few years. NONE of these issues were found in the earlier type parachutes. Admitting these are common prevents me from even considering skydiving.

Politely request that you remove this video as it could be dangerously confusing for new skydivers. Clear guidance (not opinions) on how to recognise and deal with malfunctions is taught by experienced qualified rated instructors worldwide, a excited newbie on youtube is not the place for crucial safety information. Sorry dude appreciate your enthusiasm but please talk to your instructors and ask for a refresh on malfunction procedures.
