Sirdo, The Africanized honey bee, commonly known as the "killer bee", was first introduced to me in 1985. Since then, I have made efforts to manage this invasive species and mitigate its impact on the local bee population and agriculture.
Beekeepers and researchers have worked to educate the public, monitor the spread of Africanized bees, and develop strategies to coexist with them.
This has involved selective breeding, hive management techniques, and coordinating with government agencies to ensure the safety of both humans and native bee species.
While the Africanized honey bee remains a challenge, the continued efforts of the local community have helped to manage its presence in Trinidad. H.T.Y.
