When you said pre-made, I thought of the kind sold pre-popped, not the kind where the unpopped kernels are sitting in fat inside a flattened bag. I haven't tried to microwave the pre-popped kind, but I suspect they'd just burn.

Things I learned as a kid in the 1980's about microwave ovens. Never try to cook eggs in their shells (They explode). Don't reheat food on mom's dishes that have gilt edges (They spark & ruin the gold). Don't try to roast meats (My mom tried to cook a corned beef brisket & it was raw in the middle and hard as a rock on the outside. Also, meat tends to pop & leave bits everywhere on the inside). Always cover your food because you never know if it will pop & leave a mess. Anything with sugar in it will melts quickly and feel like the fire of 1000 suns if it gets on your skin because it is so hot. Butter will melt quickly and then pop. Leave plenty of room for liquids to expand in your dish. They tend to boil over and leave a mess.
@MayimHastings
@MayimHastings Жыл бұрын
And liquid can't boil unless it has some resistance from something (a toothpick works fine), otherwise the microwave will literally explode. I was at my friend's house and he was reheating coffee and the door to the microwave blew across the room 😂.

I myself do not have these devices, because they are very expensive, but other special devices, which are comparable to the microwave, is the Thermomix from Vorwerk or Bosch, a versatile kitchen appliance with which you can chop, mix, heat, cook and sauté or a Western bread maker, for example, from Morphy Richards or Panasonic, with which you can bake voluminous bread, but not flat bread as in the video. There you have to put all the ingredients in and just press the button. Then it is automatically seduced, kneaded and baked.

What would be interesting would be Ruby's (and other women's) reaction to an automatic washing machine. I guess that they spend a lot of time every week doing all the laundry by hand. I have the same issue with my Filipina girlfriend, who lives in a slum. I know that in Europe washing machines were a big part in the liberation of women, who could then spend the time (one or two days a week) previously used to do the family laundry with more useful or profitable tasks (education, or having a job earning their own money).

thanks for this!(: It's interesting to see the microwave referred to as a "new gadget" lol it's an indispensable, invaluable, ubiquitous, omnipresent (if you don't know those words, it's अपरिहार्य, अमूल्य, सर्वव्यापी, सर्वव्यापी in hindi according to google translate) machine since decades ago, it appeared in the late 1970s I think or around then... and you can't cook in it, just heat up, but still, and the melting point for glass is 1700C so no worries hah it doesn't get that hot, so glass is safe as is porcelain and ceramic and some plastics, just don't put metal or any plastic in it (: and it alerts you when the countdown is at 00:00 and you can burn food, if you put it for too long, and inversely, if it's not set for long enough, it won't be ready yet I wonder if you can make pancakes in that second one... well said, but you can use that even if there IS a woman in the house, we're/you're not slaves/servants for men or any gender! I don't care what's in your pants, get off your butt and make your own damn food, unless I choose to make it for you! Adults aren't meant to be babies if they can be adults. Even my friend's 4yo son helps with the food preparing as does my 4yo daughter. have a good week all!
